IF a Ford experiences a high idle, check the codes. Check the throttle body for excessive wear between the butterfly and air horn. Replace it if worn.

I have the same year truck with the same motor. The problem I'm having is I have no throttle response between 700 and 2100 rpm. It's one or the other. Been wondering why I'm getting bad gas mileage. I'm thinking it's a bad TPS, a dead spot in the sensor. I hope someone else has experienced this

With thesee Ford's you have to replace most sensors on the intake throtlebody, including the egr valve, personally ive replaced all sensors,fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator and maf sensor along with all vacuum lines, problem solved.

Just curious. Initially what was your truck doing? Im having issues with high rpms. I'll put it in park and it will jump up to about 1500 snd then slowly climb higher on it's own. I had the codes pulled and only code is for egr. It just started out of the blue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have an 01 f150 5.4

billmcgraw1959, Without watching the other videos what idle issues were you having exactly? The current one I am having is when I have the heater or AC on my idle fluctuates up and down while stopped in gear or in park, more so when engine first starts and is cold. When driving there is no noticeable issues as it drives just fine, it's just when in park or stopped in gear.

Mine was doing a rough idle and dying. A couple of years back I had a ford bronco that had what you are having.....I think that was an Idle Air Control problem....I took it off and cleaned it... only thing I can tell you is check all your vacuum lines first, then work your idle air control. If that is working , then clean the Mass Air Flow sensor... hit up an internet forum for your year of F150... lots of those guys have had the same problems and can give you further input.

@olsem101
@olsem101 7 жыл бұрын
I realize this video is a couple years old and such. and that your problem has more than likely been fixed, but mother Ford did address that idle speed issue with a computer update, instead of it dropping to around 500-550 in gear at a stop, they'll hold 650. just my two cents as I was perusing KZfaq and came across your video.
@JasonWW2000
@JasonWW2000 7 жыл бұрын
olsem101 Are you saying there was a technical bulletin put out by Ford addressing the too low idle speed? Does Ford reflash it for free or is it a service charge? What would it cost?
@olsem101
@olsem101 7 жыл бұрын
JasonWW2000 yes, there is a tsb for it, but you'll have to pay the dealer to do it, unless you know someone with the Ford ids system that wouldn't charge you.

Factory 700 rpm idle. I don't like it that high but computer compensates idle if I manually lower it bummer mainly for good ac performance at idle
@ryanwyrick6947
@ryanwyrick6947 5 жыл бұрын
700 is not high at all I like 800 you get way too much resonance in vibration at lower Idols with older trucks especially Ford's.... right now mine is actually idling at about 600 perfectly warms kind of goes up to 700 I am actually having an issue I just bought it and it has a really low idle at cold start like 11 or 1200... It goes up to like 1700 real quick and then right back down 212 and then within a minute it's at 1100 and within a minute later it's at like a thousand it's like it wants to start up as if it's already kind of warm or something and I already change the Ambient Air Temperature Sensor maybe it's some sort of sticky thermostat or something I don't know... Actually that wouldn't be a bad idea since I had massive rust going through my cooling system....

Whoa dude okay I'm stopping it there just after a second and I just screenshotted the part you just held up okay I just found a red end of a hose look like it was melted I mean it was a really hard plastic though I didn't understand I had never seen it matter of fact I have never even had an F-150 and I just got a 98 same thing as yours except a 4.6 Triton anyway I found this thing just laying around I can't even remember where it fell out of so I know this thing was worked on and I have a few other issues I have to work out like fucking Suds in the damn coolant but I found that little hose and it was only like an inch and a half long like no hoes just the end and it looked freaking melted through at one end like not a whole just like yours but actually melted apart at the fitting so I don't know what to think at this point I'm going to keep watching your video to see what happens in the sea what you say but thank you so much man for the devotion it's videos like this that help that really actually help the consumer the DIY guys and the ones who don't want to give their money to these shady ass mechanics that we know are trying to trick us back in oh I know the most honest good-hearted looking guys are all doing that ok they're all dirtbags they all bow to that dollar bill and especially the owners that are working on vehicles their Hustlers they're greedy they just know how to smile and sound good and that's it and that's what I'm taking to the bank and take him to the Grave I don't care anymore these guys are just like doctors there's no incentive in fucking sending you home all fixed up... Okay now that I got that little rant out of the way I'm just curious if I might be able to show somebody a screenshot of this part maybe you sir and maybe figure out if this was a similar part similar type vacuum line or maybe the same just a different brand but it's red it's literally red and I'm sorry I brought it up without a picture or any kind of Link or information to the part but it's because I don't know anything about it and I'm wondering if something actually fell apart and I have this rough idle myself it's smoothening out as I put solvents in the car so I already know that there is a huge buildup of carbon and garbage throughout the intake and throttle body and after replacing the idle air control valve and cleaning the old one oh yeah I'm pretty damn sure it's just carbon buildup in bad gas.... I just replaced all filters with K&N and Motorcraft o go get that wrench top K&N oil filter you won't ever ever regret it it's the only filter that will outlive your 10000 mile oil.. go get that wrench top filter and whatever you don't do whatever you do do not absolutely do not ever buy a Fram if you haven't been on KZfaq to see any of the controlled experiments that cut those things open let's just say if you've ever used a Fram you just don't want to go watch it right now you don't you really don't just take my word for it and get it the fuck off your truck go get that kandn for 12 bucks and enjoy your ride... Put it this way the Fram filter is worse than paper and it's not even a filter oh and it rusts any of the metal that's actually in there rusts before it even comes off the shelf

@ Use fuel injection line. I did it to my F350 Super Duty with the V10 Triton all the vac and emisson hoses on the back of the engine to front were like shit after the former owner replaced the engine last year he couldn't figure out the problem. I bought 3 weeks ago problem fixed as well as the clown put the original coil packs in it which the van had 277,777 on the clock when I went to pick it up. I almost hated to drive it home with that mileage registered. I only put 200 miles on it so far should take a pic of that odometer. Between the vac leaks and bad coils the thing almost didn't make it home here. It spent 4 days in total pieces in my shop and runs like swiss watch now. Fuel injection like won't collapse under heat and vacuum. I use it on my Silverado's too they have all them cheap plastic shit lines. I just fixed an Employees new Canyon he bought it used with 86K on the clock and had it about 3 weeks and it acted wonkier than wonky yesterday. The Salesman bless the lying assholes heart lied said it needed a tune up. In the glove box we found the receipts from the former owner had blown the engine with just 44K on the truck and they put it back together with stressed out PCV line had a hair line crack in it. I only found that after we put new wires and plugs in it which probably was not the problem it was probably that PCV line all along. We did the same thing the fuel injection hose is extremely expensive but it did the trick we couldn't even hear the thing when it was running it was so quiet.

@@billmcgraw1959 I just had my alternator,battery,spark plugs,coil pactor changed,doing so much better,except today,same as yours,it's cold...and I'm having that same rattling problem...any suggestions on what it may be..also,I have oil going in my collant ,had my radiator changed,still haven't fixed the coolant res. Problem though,worried it might lead to a bigger problem...it's just hard to find reliable mechanic to really let me know what's wrong,where the leak coming from...don't know if just needs flushing,since I changed my radiator,but also has a coolant leak...maybe I just need a new vehicle,though I'd probably be more afraid if the expenses,and random problems these new vehicles have that are so hard,well...so much harder to pinpoint,not to mention,much more complex😬

It could also be your egr valve, pressure feed back sensor and or replace your fuel injectors and fuel preasure regulator, most likely the EGR valve they go out or get stuck shut or open.
