These are the best trucks ever built by anyone, period. My 99 Eddie Bauer is still beautiful in and out and has 335,000 miles on the original 5.4 engine, original transmission(with original fluid still in it) and original quiet as a mouse rear end. also original fuel pump and A/C compressor, and exhaust system, original working power windows and power door lock actuators and original never worked on stereo with 6 disc CD changer. Also the original headliner, door panels, carpet, dash still look new.....only had to redo the front seat upholstery. Original door hinges still quiet and tight. original weatherstrips still like new. AND.......never had a check engine light come on in 335,000 miles....... Try this with your Tahoe or Suburban and let me know how that works out.

Ive never pulled anything with her. The a/c and paint job are shot to hell, but like you said, its a good daily driver.

Great vehicles for Year models 1999-2002. Got a 1999 (178k miles) and a 2001 (160k miles) Wife said why you need two? I said 2 is better than 1. Then my wife wanted one. Got her a 2003 with 130k. She loves it and now has 160k on it, but timing chain making rattle. I'm thinking of doing timing chain on all 3 at the 200k mark! Nice video thanks.

2004 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L, 2 Valve, AWD, Heavy Duty tow package & 4x4 with 175,000 on the dash. Love her to death! Just replaced water pump/belt and serpentine belt. Before that I've only had to replace front brake line and 1 pully wheel in engine other than that no problem at all. Regular maintenance and oil changes done and I don't dogged her at all! That's the problem, people know these trucks can take a beating so they proceed to dog them and not do regular maintenance when needed then complain when it gives out. I see a lot of 1st gens and actually more 1st than 2nd gens and if you do see a 2nd gen it's all beat to hell

Amen brother if that Expedition is good enough for you it is good enough for your kid and I salute you for that view. I would have been proud to have been handed the keys to that truck when I started driving. I wish more kids had an appreciation for what was cool before high-tech came along and ruined vehicles and made them oh so very expensive to own and maintain. Congrats on keeping this jewel going for 339,000 miles!

I recently purchased a 2000 Exp, with the 4.6 w/216000 miles on it ( the 4.6 is basically the same thing as the 289 ci which has been a Ford motor since 1965 it was the second motor put into the mustang back in the beginning of the true muscle car age, the first motor of the mustang 🐎 was the 260 v-8 but since it was supposed to be a American sports car they wanted a few more hp ) the 4.6 has been around for a long time and besides the truck and Suv , most Ford police crown victoria have the same engine in them. I just happened to have a 02 CV with just under 90k miles on it and it has the 4.6 also, both run great. I took my Exp to a friend of mine shop so I get on a lift and check out how it looked underneath, ( I live in a small town in SE Az and any 4wh usually has had issues underneath because there's a lot of dirt roads and off-road is done a lot. It looked great and my friend (for 18 years working on my veh.) said it was one of the cleanest that he had ever seen specially for a 20 year old veh., how ever he wanted to show me something. One of the vehicles he had in the shop was another exp but it was a 5.4 but the part he was working on was the transfer case, because of the all wheel drive that can be shift into a durable 4 wheel drive, the transfer case is set up like a automatic transmission and has a massive clutch pack with close to 20 plates in it, now what is a small, but seriously pain in the butt design flaw is when that automatic shift in the 4wh drive it can cause the whole pack to slam into the case and eventually cause a crack or small hole in the case it self. Now there's a easy fix for it 3 little inserts and it's ok, but you have to open it up to get there. And any thing else on the outside it's not going to work because it's under pressure and will continue to leak, unless of course you have a mig-welder. There's a lot more stuff to cover on the,4.6 but I have carried on to long and I have to go, I have Parkinson and I get really pissed at this stupid phone, one of these days it's going to get a 454 upgrade about 300 grain hp at 1800fps. Everyone God bless America and President Trump and all of you, Have a nice day.

Makes me feel even more hopeful than I already do about mine. Mine just cracked 240k miles and I’m in NYC so we just had a really cold week recently and the battery had to get replaced. Other than basic regular maintenance, I can’t remember anything I’ve done. Can you recommend anything as far as fluid changes? I just did a radiator system flush less than a month ago.. how about brake fluid/trans fluid:power steering fluid flushed?
@79glastron5 жыл бұрын
Greetings from Texas. I have changed the trans fluid at the intervals of 80k. I would suggest that you change out the oil in the rare differential if you have not done that in awhile. If the rear gears go out, it gets super expensive. I have not flushed the power steering fluid for awhile now. However, I always change the oil and filter (motorcraft) every 6k miles.. Of course, I have to add about 3/4 qt every 1k miles as it does eat oil. Another thing that I do periodically is I put a can of SeaFoam in the gas tank every 2k miles. I believe that using SeaFoam has made a huge difference!

The fix for the blown plugs is simple....torque the spark plugs to 30 foot lbs instead of the 10 foot lbs. Ford gave them at the factory......what happens is that they get loose, then they rattle around in the hole until the threads are ruined.
