There were tears of joy running down my face as he took that checkered flag. This was one of the greatest moments, not only in NASCAR history, but sports history. @ Slimdean no we didn’t. We saw an extremely emotional young man with a will to win drive that car all night. But don’t deny Dale Jr’s win or his teams ability to put together a fantastic car
@Slimdean_27
@Slimdean_27 10 ай бұрын
@@drunkengamer7378 I agree with you, what my initial point was the maneuvering through the field was reminiscent of what his father did at Talladega. Jr's team put together one hell of a car that day and jr's determination to overcome the track his father lost his life on. Yeah we were all deeply hit with his dad's end, but what I was referring to was the maneuvering that made me think of seniors last win the year before. That's all but I do agree

I don't care what people say, but Junior in the #8 and Michael in the #15 were by far the best duo in super speedways during the early '00s. Junior always had a lot of raw pace and speed at Daytona and Talladega, but half of his wins there wouldn't have happened without Michael being such a great teammate and wingman, never afraid of shutting the door hard on anybody trying to overtake them.

The plate Dynasty that was DEI from 2001 to 2004 was no joke. The greatest plate dynasty of all time and I don't think its even close! 2001 Daytona 500 Michael Waltrip 2001 Aarons 499 Bobby Hamilton 2001 Pepsi 400 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 2001 EA Sports 500 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 2002 Daytona 500 Ward Burton 2002 Aarons 499 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 2002 Pepsi 400 Michael Waltrip 2002 EA Sports 500 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 2003 Daytona 500 Michael Waltrip 2003 Aarons 499 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 2003 Pepsi 400 Greg Biffle 2003 EA Sports Michael Waltrip 2004 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 2004 Jeff Gordon 2004 Jeff Gordon 2004 Dale Earnhardt Jr. Dynasty much DEI? That's 11 wins 16 races! Ive been a fan since 1999 and I haven't seen anybody come close to that level of plate dominance. And it wasn't just Cup. Just go google their Xfinity stats during that time and the non points events like the Budshootout and the Twin 125s. Unreal. Long live Capital E and the plate POWER he left behind. Those cars could literally pass at will most of the time and the race was always for 3rd place. I saw it all and it was just like this race you all just watched.

Hendrick came fairly close between 2004-2007 to what DEI was at plate tracks Jeff Gordon won the 2004 Aaron’s 499, the 2004 Pepsi 400, the 2005 Daytona 500, the 2005 Aaron’s 499, and both Talladega races in 2007 Jimmie Johnson of course won the 2006 Daytona 500 and the 2006 Aaron’s 499 And Brian Vickers won the 2006 UAW 500 9/16 isn’t bad at all

Eli White I disagree, considering the fact that whoever wins a plate race these days is anyone’s guess. In the last 16 plate races (which fits the timeline of this, so it includes the 2016 fall Talladega race, and all the plate races after that), the driver with the most wins? 2. 2 by Denny Hamlin, 2 by Logano, 2 by stenhouse, and 2 by blaney. That’s it. For Jr to get 7 plate wins in 4 years and for Gordon to get 6 in 4 years is pretty amazing.

@@quasimoto7662 DEI also from 2001 to 2005 won 4 of 8 duel 125's finishing 1-2 in 2 of those races they competed together. They won 6 of 8 Xfinity Series Daytona from 2002 to 2006 races including 3 straight in the February race and finished 1-2 in 2 of those races both in 2002, from 2003 to 2006 won 4 straight xfinity series Talladega races for a combined 10 plate wins in 15 Xfinity Series events. So in 42 Cup plate events including the duels and Shootout and 16 races in the Xfinity series making that 58 races combined from 2001 to 2006 respectively they won a combined between Dale Earnhardt Jr, Michael Waltrip and MartinTruex Jr 25 of 58 races. Again, the greatest plate Dynasty of all time regarding plates in not just Cup but Xfinity too and its not even close. What Hendrick did even in Cup I can tear apart too statistically if you want to do just Cup because i assure you they lose not just in stats but in sheer performance as well all across the board.

I have been to many spectacular sporting events in my life but I remember when Dale Jr took the lead coming out of turn 4 the most the crowd was soooooo loud it was deafening and the stands literally shook it’s the one and only NASCAR race I have ever been to to this day I was 14 at the time a guy behind be at the end of the race while he was spinning around the infield said don’t ever go to another race cause it will never come close to this

This race and the 500 that year were three years before my time but I can remember bein really young watching races with my grandparents that they had on tape, I got to see decades of Dale Sr. so I guess you could say I grew up watching him race, I may not have been alive for any of it but it still makes me emotional to this day

I remember watching this that summer Saturday night on TV. 2001 was the kickoff of a new age of NASCAR and I think it lived up to it despite the loss of Earnhardt. Had we not had Jr. in the season or have him win this race, the season would have been remembered more for the loss of NASCAR's greatest rather than the arrival of Jr.

A race you never will forget no matter if you were there in person or watched it on TV like I did. The paint scheme on Ken Schrader's #36 Pontiac was amazing.
