Thanks for sharing. I’m the 14 year old kid in front row in the blue shirt with my dad. I’ll never forget this day.

I remember watching this, i was 16. I remember my dad just laughing at Bonds and I didn’t really know why. I was like, "Dad, why are you laughing?" He just pulled out his insulin needle and threw it at me. I was like "What does diabetes have to do with this?"

Konerko is my favorite boring guy in baseball. Not flashy but could crush it.

Sammy "Say It Isn't / Is" Sosa was worth the price of admission. Thanks for posting this derby! People forget that it was Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa that brought baseball back after the strike in the late 1990s. I only wish McGwire was still with the A's when the home run chase began. Sosa put on a show in the HR contest. Even when he hits a home run in a real game, he plays to the crowd with the hop and kiss to the camera. I miss those days.

It's a shame how The Cubs dropped Sosa like a bad habit. Not even an acknowledgement. And he carried that team during the turn of the century.

I got to say. Sammy Sosa deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame. The cubs not even allowing him at events is pathetic.. The amount of fun and joy Sosa brought to Chicago says all you need to know. You can still celebrate a person and not have to agree with the personal choices they make especially when those personal choices have no direct effect on your life. I don't ever remember there being any proof of anything on Sosa. In fact he always tested negative for enhancing substances. The only thing he ever got caught using was a corked bat. Chicago loves you Sammy, the cubs organization does not represent how the city feels for you.

Yeah but you can cycle your roids so nothing is in you on test days. Watch how his arms grow and get more pumped through the derby. But still he is an all time great in Chicago and should be more recognized there.

@@baseballbathomies3378 as someone who has done steroids for years you can't just stop taking them for test days and not test positive. If I stop taking steroids today, I still will as positive weeks ahead of now. I only take shots once a week. So you can't just stop for a test day. Because I'm stopped most days anyway and I would still test positive. Not to mention when you come off you have to use anti-estrogen which is a clear sign that you take steroids and you have to do that for 8 to 10 weeks after. You cycle steroids weeks at a time. For example I would do 8 to 10 weeks of high testosterone like 23 shots a week with another steroid and then I would take 10 to 12 weeks off or I would go very low-dose testosterone for 10 to 12 weeks but as soon as I stop taking it, I would still test positive for at least two to three weeks after. And there are steroids that you will test positive for months after. Plus the testing was random. So they couldn't plan when to come off. That being said Sammy Sosa absolutely positively took steroids but I don't give a shit. Steroids save baseball. Not to mention I've hit many baseballs on steroids and off steroids and it never helped me hit the ball farther. I hit the ball farther in my life consistently when I was seventeen years old and never touched a steroid and was very small. I was literally 50 lb heavier and much stronger and never hit the ball farther. that was the era it's just how it is there are plenty of people that are in the Hall of Fame that were on steroids and people think that steroids were only around in the 90s it was around in the 60s and 70s and 80s too. They all deserve to be in the Hall of Fame
