My dad used to own 2 of these 626's they were great cars, and are in my opinion very underrated. They lasted us 400.000 kilometers before it started to break into parts

Hi Joe Way back in the 70s my father bought a Mazda 818, we both drove both a 626 and 818 I preferred the 626 he preferred the 818 as it was smaller so that's what he bought. The only thing I can really remember about it is it rusted so badly quite quickly and you could hear the wind whistling through the holes in the front wings as you drove along. Happy Days. Thanks Joe.

My parents had the 1991 Mazda 626 sedan 2.0. and this one but than the pre facelift from 1998. Also a hatchback with the same 1.8 90hp. We had allot of 626’s in our family. My grandfather and uncles also drove 626’s. But nobody ever had the Mazda 6. When the 626 line was over the brand mazda was also gone for our family

Love these videos. And I really like this Mazda. May be this car is not the best at nothing but surely it does everything well...and the engine sounds still pretty. Never tired of these kind of test. More, more, more.....Good test Joe!!!

So well said. I had the 2 liter version for 10 years. Best at nothing but low consumption, low maintenance and gets the job done. But i still have to say sound proofing was so bad (next to non-existant) even for its time.

May be searching a lot of reliability....49cv/l. Is equal to an old turbodiésel ( for example the Zx1.9 td ). I would like to see if that petrol engine is able to achieve 350.000 kms without problems. Yes, it's a really boring engine, I admit that....

@@onesandzeroes No, I am talking about petrol. I myself had a Opel Vectra 1.8 90 hp That era really closed down around 1996-97 when 1.6 injection 100-110 hp engines poped up everywhere. This Mazda 's engine is a bit of a surviving last of the kind for 2002 and this engine ceased with this model anyway.

COROLLA, 9-3, 626. They don't look fancy, but they were hell more reliable. This one looks a lot older, because it's end of production model before Mazda 6. BTW SY with K means it was register recently around 2019, so it changed the owner.

Ok, visually this Mazda 626 is a facelift version. "2002" in the title also confirms that (along with the integrated stereo system). There is NO 1.8 facelift producing only 90 HP. They all produce ~101 HP (74kW). Also, how come the instrument cluster shows MPH and it is on the left side? It is not an US version, as they look totally different. And also check engine light? Air bag blinking light? Squeaking belt? Come on, this video is made only for monetization! You got all the scrap parts and made a video. Bravo!

May be he tries to show how goes a car handled with normal hands, as your father, granpa or that neighbourgh that hates the cars could do....all the people don't know how to get the best acceleration times with a car (I'm not saving that Joe is a bad driver, simply that he's no interested in looking like a race pilot). My self opinion eh? 😉

Most cars from 80s/90s with 1.8 made similar power,so it not useless but made to the fact to make the 2.0 version look a lot more powerful, ypu wouldn't buy 2.0 version if 1.8 had like 110 HP,because 2.0 in Mazda made 115 HP in least powerful version
