My 2006 top would not go up. I heard the motor trying briefly, but would not go up, flashing red light on the panel. This video IS AWESOME because what you showed exactly did the trick. After tweaking the back shelf a bit it looks like the top now is working. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much. Your video saved me thousands of dollars on my 2007 Z4. I was going to take it to the BMW dealer when the roof did not close. I am now considering replacing the pump myself after I find a suitable replacement. I've seen videos on KZfaq on how to access and relocate the motor in the trunk.

Very helpful. This looks like a problem waiting to happen. Of course I need to source a 4mm Allen key as the previous owner had "lost" the tool kit. Or sold it on E Bay, along with the owner's manual. And the wind deflector... what's the matter with people?

This is so useful. It's a fault waiting to happen on a day of sunshine and showers. To be honest, I prefer a manual soft top like the ne my Z3 had fitted. I'll source a 4mm Allen key and ratchet and keep it in the car.

When i do the alan key method to close it because my latch motor is bad, it will get it latched up to a certain point but not fully, theres still a little gap between the top and the windshield where its not fully latched like normal.

I had the same problem where the top would not go up and the motor didn’t sound but once I put it up manually, it locked with no problem. Any idea what that could be

That’s exactly my problem I put it on manual and good to go! Not sure if it’s worth it to fix the hydraulic!

My top is open and will not close. I am having a problem apparently with the red bypass mechanism. After I pull the tab, I cannot manually pull the top up. It feels like the hydraulics are still engaged?

Pull the string connected to the button in the trunk. If you can’t find this look it up in the manual for the car.

do you guys know why my red cord is stuck? I Saw another video that just move it the cord and you can manually lower the top without using force.

Probably emergency valve on hydraulic pump is blocked (because of corrosion). You must take out your top and repair hydraulic unit, I guess eletric motor in pump is corroded also. If You have more questions write on cabrio.serwis@gmail.com

I'd like to find someone in the Mid Atlantic area that will put a Mustang convertible top motor in, and relocate it in the trunk to keep failures from happening
