here is the intro to my new car. I bought this car without driving it or looking under it. Do not do that. This series will follow me saving this car.

"Some of the nice things about it... It doesn't LOOK like it has rust." Me @ my WRX, hahaha. It is honestly pretty sweet that it is a V6 manual. If you ever decide to part this out, great candidate to swap the drivetrain into a 2g Eclipse! Ah damn that rust in the rear rocker/quarter. My GSX has the same issue. Would be nice to find a donor instead of building from scratch. OMG my license plate bracket and light mount also dissolved! Hahaha. It's like we have the same car. Strut towers too of course. #SaveTheSebring love it. Hahaha. Mr. GSX will be proud. Good luck with it!

I had the 2001 with the 3.0 basically the same car. The check engine light went on and it was still running great.I took it to a local mechanic he replaced a sensor but the light still stayed on and he claimed that now that the first sensor was fixed it was able to read an issue with another sensor. I then went to the Chrysler dealer and they weren't too crazy about working on it since technically it's a Mitsubishi but I put some money into it, ran great but the check engine light went back on again..I wound up selling it because I moved but I used to enjoy driving this car.

I actually bought a 1997 Dodge Stratus sedan and it practically only needed a fuel pump where it sat for years the fuel pump locked. I went ahead and out new brakes and tires all around and changed the water pump as well as the timing belt. I drive it everyday to and from nursing school and work it’s actually surprisingly comfortable. I have had any issues and I know the chassis for the convertibles and coupes are practically just the elongated JA chassis I believe it’s the JX chassis I’m not sure I’ll have to do some more research on it. I haven’t had any issues out of mine aside from a grand EVAP leak which I’m about to fix since I’m on Christmas break. The older JA cars use a rubber hose for the fuel neck rather than metal. I also live in the rust belt so that’s why I went to South Carolina to get it lol but I only paid $800 and it’s very clean. I also forgot I changed the thermostat as well.

I don't think the other McCoy comment is my brother but I do have a brother named Matt. I have a 2004 Sebring 3.0 5 speed coupe and also have a 2001 with the same drivetrain that I have had for 14 years and very reliably even with all that I beat on it. I saw a report that the 95-2000 Sebring and Stratus sedans were some of the most reliable cars of the 90s.
