I can never think of Dwayne Wade without thinking of how the Jayhawks beat his Golden Eagles into the ground in this semifinal game.

But Kansas couldn’t finish the job and win it all🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿

Most people don't think that way, especially considering his monster game vs. Kentucky (their region's 1 seed) in the elite 8. That was sort of his coming out party to the nation, where he looked NBA-ready. This game was a combo of Williams being a better coach than Crean, Kansas playing great basketball, & Marquette running outta gas.

@@darshloaf pretty well said. Look at how many open shots Marquette simply missed. Going into this game Novak was shooting 70% from 3 in the tournament and Marquette as a team was shooting like 60% from 3. That's absurd. They had to come back to come back to earth in terms of percentages at some point. Just sucked that it had to happen that night. Marquette even with their ability to push the ball was one of Creans slower paced teams, relying on their half court offense. But more to the point Kansas was able to exploit Marquettes lack of speed. Crazy how easy they were able to push the ball up time and again. Add to that relatively hot 3pt shooting from Kansas, all the makings of a blowout.

All the talk about about how Marquette was going to beat Kansas after what they did to Kentucky. Well they forgot to Kansas.

Kansas had just won a war against AZ in the EE that totally prepared them for this game. It was a shame someone had to lose that game as both were clearly among the 4 best in the country.

Roy Williams' last win at KU. This was his 2nd best Jayhawk team, after the ill-fated '97 squad. They took it easy in the 2nd half, could've scored 100+. Roy's '09 UNC team did the same in the finals, that team could've scored 110-115 easily.

IMHO going with the 2001-02 squad as Roys second best Kansas team. But there are so many incredible teams he had at KU.

What was our point guard “Marquette” doing? 🤔🤔 Edit: D-Wade was Marquette that year for us. With out Wade that year we definitely wasn’t making it to no final four.

Goddammit. Kind bittersweet at Halftime. KU up 29pts, Roy clearly extatic. Getting interviewed. After KU beat 2 of imo? Top10 teams of 21stCentury. - 2002-03 Duke Blue Devils. Sweet16 - 2002-03 Arizona Wildcats. Elite8 Then up 29pts at Halftime in National Semis? It just seemed like "Taylor-Made" exit for Roy. Get his 1st, give KU another Chip b4 he HAD leave at that point for North Carolina. Already turned UNC dwn once in 1999 I believe it was......

Aaron Miles like current KU guard DeJuan Harris. If he's hitting shots/scoring? KU unbeatable. Love Miles..but I truly believe DeJuan Harris is a better overall PG. (Harris started for say a Mid Major? 15-18ppg.) That is QUITE the compliment. I fully expect see Harris coming off bench NBA.

Big12 has had 3 differ teams play for a National Championship 3 times in last 4 NCAA Tournaments. Also 2020 Cancelled NCAA Tournament Kansas would been by far #1 overall seed. Bay would been the second #1seed.

I just thought something. That has be record. Kansas has TWICE had a +28pt lead in 1stHalf of a National Semi-Final gm. 2003 2008 (Thank GAWD 4 Sherron Collins in 08 final 2mins. Another National Title L? Would been just absolutely deflating for Jayhawks.) 2003 was bad enough, EIGHTEEN missed Free Throws vs Syracuse. Lost by 3.

Kansas had beat 2 OUTSTANDING teams in Sweet16/Elite8 get to 03 FF. -2002-03 Arizona Wildcats team is arguably the GOAT Arizona Wildcat team. Kansas beat them 2003 Elite8. -2002-03 Duke Blue-Devils was one Duke's GOAT teams ever. Kansas beat them 2003 Sweet16.
