Fix heater door foam comes of of the heater door and comes out the vents. Also heat comes out or you will have poor cooling. I will show you how to fix the heater door. When the foam comes off of the door there are holes that the heat will come through.

How did you ramove the big plastic part in the end? The one that covers the blend door. I've followed the video but can't remove the last pice.
@HallPirate
@HallPirate 5 жыл бұрын
If you feel around the edges of the plastic cover you'll find about 6 bumps that are the clips he talks about. Up close the clips look like a tab that goes through a loop. I had to use a tiny flathead screwdriver to push the loops open farther and then pull the cover towards me a little bit so the tabs would slide out. Just be gentle and go one at a time so you don't break the clips.

This is great. As a quick/temporary solution I just removed the air vent covers and vaccumed out what was sitting loose. Turn on the fans at the same time and you can remove bigger chunks.
@itskevnow
@itskevnow 7 жыл бұрын
+Greg Mackay it's not a temporary fix it is a permanent fix! The foam you vacuumed out came off of the door, of you pay attention to the video you can see holes in the door where the foam use to be! If you do not seal those holes your ac will not be as cold as it should be because those holes allow heat and cold air mix making for warmer air.

Worked great but the very back door was a BiAtch to get out and I had to just pull with all my might on the right side of it to get it out. Sounded easy but I broke a bunch of tabs an shit but my heat finally works. Did it after work yesterday and put a few thing back on and rolled tf out so I’ll be trying to get it all back together 😂😂😂😂 thanks bro. I taped both of them also. If you reach up really high on those doors, you’ll feel another round hole. Make sure to get em all. They make replacement grommets that actually go right in the holes I seen but I think taped up is just as good. Use the HVAC foil tape

Sounds like MICE to me - I had them in a few cars and my Beetle - take the wipers off, remove the plastic cowling cover... then get some 1/4 inch hardware wire mesh - cut to size and sheet metal screw the pieces over the vent openings (4) and the ones that are difficult to cover - use spray foam and cover whatever you cannot screen off. I also sealed the rear air vents (behind spare tire) since I had mice get through there b4 as well ... Mouse traps inside for a few weeks to test it.

Thank you very much but don't know how to do it exactly. Is there a tab that inserts inside or are they clamps that come off entirely? Do do you do it with your hand or what exact tool do you use? Do you do it from one side first? Do you pry them one by one from the from or from the back? Do you just pull the cover until it disjoins? I've tried with a flat screwdriver in the left side and the tab is somewhat bent but did not loose.

@@Joe3D Did you remove it? I have exactly the same problem.
@Joe3D
@Joe3D 5 жыл бұрын
@@MaximNovak yes I finally removed it. However, don't expect to fully replace the foams, because the surface covered by foam is much bigger than the one you can access through the cover. What you have to do is to break the tab at the bottom with a flat screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver from front to back where the two plastics meet together and pry a lot until you break the tab from the bottom. Then you can insert your fingers in between and force disengage the others on the sides. The foam is glued to a plastic film. Such plastic film covers the claps on both sides of it, so if the plastic is not broken air will not pass through, even with no foam. If you get air cold or hot enough don't dissassemble the whole thing, takes some tricky effort and you can't replace the entire foam not even half of it because there is another clap behind the one at the front, and when one open the other closes so to access the one in the back you need the one in the front closed but that way you can't access it.

A fellow V Dubber told me that these intentional holes punched into blend doors covered by highly porous and weak foam screens essentially that somehow redirect air was selected by my fellow manufacturing engineers to prevent whistling, HA! I wonder how many other hundreds of millions of cars across the globe whistle like an entire symphony of flutes or other wind instruments because of this oversight all the meanwhile providing SUPERIOR, reliable and long term HVAC functionality!!! It's probably easier to pull the dash (really not that much more work when you're this far in) and then remove this whole air distribution piece, front and back (two screws -- one each on the left & right, one clip on top, then swing down). This will give you access to the whole opening, not just the bottom half.

My daughter's 2001 Jetta Turbo started its death struggle by spitting its coolant out the oval o-ring and discharging the battery randomly overnight. Now my 2003 Jetta 2.0 has greasy foam spewing out the vents. What a really POS car VW have made. I've been a fan of Porsche and VW for decades, but no more. Friends don't let friends buy Volkswagens!

Quakeboy02 don’t let a couple of older VW turn you off, all cars have problems as they age! The foaming issue is an easy fix! @Quakeboy02
@Quakeboy02 6 жыл бұрын
Engineers and plastics designers have known about the problem with the plasticizers leaching from plastics for decades. And yet, here we are with this crap still being dumped on us. It's inexcusable. I didn't give a damn about the software that fooled the smog sensors. Everybody does that, whether they are caught or not. But, this plastic crap is planned obsolescence on a scale that is simply too grand to ignore. They deliberately make these cars so that the plastics will degrade after they are about a decade old. The engines are still good. So are the transmissions. Likewise the body. But the plastics degrade so badly that they stick to you and ruin your clothes. It's despicable. Just to be clear about why I am so mad: My 03 jetta has less than 60,000 miles on it. I had planned on it being my last car, as I'm not young anymore. Now I can only hope that the leaching process, which has been reaching maturity for 2 years now, will be over soon and I won't get that sticky crap blown all over me anymore.
@itskevnow
@itskevnow 6 жыл бұрын
Quakeboy02 you can argue points like that with all auto makers! Chevys 5.3l has a problem where it starves the engine for oil it’s because of the active fuel management system, at about 60 to 70 thousand miles the lifters start making noise and the fix is tear the engine down an put in these baffles it cost thousands to do this! GM does not have a recall for this they say it started in 2007 and they solved the problem in 2011 well I had a customer come in today with a 2015 same problem. Auto makers are all crooks! Some problems are worse than others!

This fix only works if you live in the north....waaayyy north. If you want cold air during the summer, fixing it like this will prevent that, and you'll be stuck driving around with your windows down & your hair getting tangled....instead of tape, find some decent A/C filter foam stuff or something that lets air through but blocks large particles and tactfully cram it in there instead. Hopefully it will last another 15 years or so....by then, you probably won't own the car anymore.
@itskevnow

Sime Arsov well if you had this problem you would understand that not only the foam that covers those holes comes through but also heat, because that door separates the evaporator from the heater core.
