In this video we take a look at a 2004 Ford Focus ZX5 where we will explore the features and also the driving characteristics. A good overview if you're considering buying one.

The sputter in 3rd & 4th at low speed is simple - the transmission isn’t meant to be powered while in 3rd and 4th gear at those speeds. In higher gear at lower speed, the gear ratio changes from underdrive to overdrive, and an underdrive ratio is meant to get the car moving at low speed. Underdrive ratios deal with torque, as overdrive ratios deal with high speed, in higher gear. Good video.

We have a 2004 ZX3 2.3 automatic, hauls ass. You don't see these very often, but they're good cars. I recommend for those wheels Khumo Ecsta 4x II's, great tires, and affordable, like $300 for a set of 4.

I used my 2002 ZX3 to move in 5 loads. My 29er bike fits inside , all wheels on.

Rare model. The 2.3 was only sold in like 3 states as a zero emissions model.

I remember when they came out. Really changed the game for the economy car and hatchback segments! Still a good runabout car on a budget. Thanks for the comment.

@@TheDrivenDave I do to. Like it was yesterday. I think it was winter of '98. I was in high school. Because a journalist was living on the other side of the street from me. And he brought home the car. I was looking at it every time i saw it parked there. And then it was features in his magazine. Some beautiful winter photos. Interior was awesome. I think i still have the magazine somewhere. It was Car of the Year in Europe, at that time. I wanted to buy one this year. Driven 170.000 km. I was disapointed. I'll look at another. Maybe i'll find one that drives better. ✌️

That’s a great story! I remember the cars I wanted in 98-99 when I was in high school too. For me, it was the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (and many other cars LOL). I hope you can find a nice one. It’s tough now that these cars are nearly 20 years old, and they weren’t necessarily built to last. Maybe you can find one that someone older owned and barely drove. If you find a good one, please let us know! Thanks again for sharing your story

Rough idle or those symptom is probably bad PVC hose it gets clogged by the old rubber hose

Buying an 05 (second gen) zx5 ses 5 speed tomorrow, only reason I'm buying it is because it is a manual, it it was an auto i wouldn't buy it

@@TheDrivenDave yea we have a 2000 se wagon thats an auto but it was owned by my grandma so go figure i guess, I fell in love with the mk 1 focus and knew I had to have one of my own, but I needed a manual

It’s always nice to have the family connection with a car (regardless of transmission 😂) . I can’t think of any cars that I didn’t enjoy on some level for that matter. Nice when we get to pick the options we want though! Good luck with the new car and let us know how it works out.

I think the 05 is still considered GEN 1.The auto is not bad for a daily driver especially in commute traffic. I wouldn't shy away from the Auto with the Duratec 2.0. as a good econ car.
