In this video, I replace the A/C recirculation vacuum actuator in a 2004 Jeep Liberty KJ.

To the right of the actuator.( You shine your flashlight on it several times.) There is a check valve. The green hose connects to the actuator the black one that comes out of the check valve connects where? I recently replaced heater core and found this black hose disconnected and pulling a vacuum for the life of me I can not find the port to plug it into. Very hard to find diagram of exact location.

Hello, around the 3:50min mark you tested the accuator. My question is what if there wasnt a suction on that hose? What would you check next? My 2004 Jeep Lib Sport 4X4 runs fantastic, almost flawless. However, when I run the AC for long drives (2+ Hours) the AC set to high will switch to a lower airflow output and the air will be between cool and warm. Then without warning it will reset itself and blow cold and then do it again with out warning. This happens on long drives several times. Basically, the AC will work at 10%, then reset and work 100%, and continue this process till we are at our distination. I hope this makes sense, because it makes no sense to me. I even talked to an A/C specialist and he told me to bring it to him when it happens. Deal is its never convient to do so. I figure its got to do with some sort of vacuum reservior. Help.

If there is no suction at the actuator, you can check the vacuum hose running to the engine which is just to the right of the actuator, you will see a hose go into a little valve (which I believe is a one way valve) and the hose on the right of the valve goes to the engine. I would check to see if that hose has vacuum. There are other actuators that run the vents that are not vacuum driven. I'm not sure if the 2002 -2007 all have the same setup.

About that 3:50, I hold it little longer and actuator finally change to mode what I want. So, is that actuator faulty or line? I already replace brand new vacuum line.

My 2005 ac is just blowing thru the defrost fan and not coming out of the front facing vents so is that what is wrong with it?

How has it been running since? I actually am having this same issue with my Jeep Liberty 2004 with there being NO heat right before winter and my Mechanic said based with labor it would cost around $700 and that's due to the awkward spot it's located in. however this being the first video I've seen it doesn't look extremely difficult or appear to be 4 hours worth of labor then I'd be willing to have a go at it

The metal piece with the hole. I'm not understanding what this latches on to?? I spent 4 hours trying to latch it. I see a peg but won't latch. Please help.

Hello Stacy. Although the space was tight, it was rather easy to get this part installed. If you can open and close the door by hand. That piece that you would move to open and close it has a little pin on the end of it that fits perfectly into the hole on the end of the actuator. If you are not seeing this piece, I'm guessing that maybe it broke off. it wasn't to difficult to do, so if you are having this much trouble getting it latched onto the pin, it's telling me the pin is probably missing or broken off. Hope that helps.
