The wheels up top come down behind the bed of the truck when it's loaded. It provides extra braking power when it's loaded. A truck of this kind typically can haul around 50 plus tons.

@@gregoryhelton2408 I don't understand Americans, here in Europe we have the Volvo FMX 10x4 that takes the same thing (50 Tons) and has 2 axles less. A more compact truck that takes the same Typical of america, huge cars to take small things

Distribución de peso, entre más ejes más peso puede cargar en la autopista y calles legalmente. Menos ejes significa que el peso es concentrado en unos pocos lugares y resulta en más daño al asfalto. Alos gobiernos locales no les gusta que dañen su asfalto inecesariamente. Probablemente este vehículo operó en una área de los Estado Unidos donde eran estrictos con el peso de los vehículos o algo similar. Este número de ejes son más comunes en grúas(wreckers).

+TWITCHIN3RZ So it can legally carry more weight. There's two ways to be allowed a higher GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight). One is with more axles and one is with a longer wheel base. This truck employs both methods with the pusher axles and the rear drop axle. In most states (Federal Bridge Law States) this truck could legally have an 80,000 pound GVW which is the same as a semi with a trailer. The advantage to this setup, is once on the jobsite, the axles come up and the truck is much more maneuverable that a semi with a trailer carrying the same weight.

chackos123 in China 3 axle trucks carry 100K pounds. And it's GVW is 130K. 5 axle GVW is up to 200K.
