@@muckersmusic9725 Good question! Stember accomplished a lot as a runner, but made a fool of himself at the 04' Trials. I saw a video about him becoming a sushi chef and just found his current self to be the very stereotypical cosmopolitan liberal, hippy, social justice warrior, atheistic, live and let live type of person that I abhor. Plus he was nearly bald and talked smack about Alan Webb who was at the same time nearly bald, so I thought that was funny. Is that good enough?

I had the same thing happen to me. One of my OWN teammates who was extremely cocky said that breaking my mile time (5:26) was going to be "light work" and "easy" and all of that. When he ran his mile however, he got 5:38 and got 2nd to last while I finished with 7 other guys ahead of him in the varsity mile. Don't talk the talk without walking the walk or in this case running the run.

Yea bro NorCal is usually 95-110°F in the summer but SoCal is 100-120°F especially in more dry areas.

Looked to me like that lead was caused by Stember slowing the rest of the pack since they were closing on Webb after they passed Stember.
