In 2004 I was 30 years old, had a P4 2.6c@3.0GHz, a Geforce 6800GS soft modded to GT and oh the fun I had with Warhammer 40k, Far Cry, Fable, UT 2004, HL2... really a golden age of PC gaming.

Thanks for letting me feel young for once. I was in high school. I read so many comments from people who think 2015 is retro and GTX 750ti their first ever video card so it’s good to know I’m not the oldest person in this hobby. And yes it was the golden age. I built my first gaming PC in 2003. Before that it was just moms office PC which only played 2D games like Red Alert and Diablo 2.

@@wertywerrtyson5529 you're only as old as you feel! My first gaming PC was a P3 550MHz with a pair of Voodoo2 12MB in SLI way back in 1998. Before that I had a 486 DX2 for DOS games, and before that the wonderful Sinclair Spectrum!

In 2004 i was 7 but i played a lot with my uncle ps2. That year i played Underground 2, gta san andreas, Toca Race Driver 2, Burnout 3 takedown, Driver 3 and some of the best games ever (for my own taste) but that were only ps2 exclusives as Destruction Derby Arenas, Gran Turismo 4 and Sly 2. Since now i have a lot of retro pcs and even the old ps2 i want to play Spliter cell Pandora Tomorrow, the suffering and hitman contracts. 2004 and 2005 were the best years. 2005 we got Most Wanted and Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition

RTW and Half Life 2 are what I remember 2004 for. 2002 was great for Jedi Outcast alone.

It was the best year for sure. My all-time favorite is Far Cry. However, you failed to mention GTA:SA.

I'm currently play testing Doom 3: Golden Edition, a mod I made a few years back, but I only now got a period accurate PC running Windows 2000 (I just preferred it over XP) with a Geforce 6600 and a Pentium D (Disable one core and it becomes a pentium 4, there's no difference, so still period appropriate). And... man, even with a 6600, it runs fairly well, and that was the most demanding game from 2004. HL2 and FarCry ran even better. Remember when PC games were highly optimized, cutting edge, new and exciting? Those were the days. I would say 2007 or 2011 was the last time we had such an amazing year for PC gaming. (sigh)

@MidnightGeek99 that is correct. Why did I say Doom 4? 😅 The reason why I liked 2011 is because of Portal 2, Mass Effect 2, Rayman Origins, Sonic Generations (probably the last time we got a good 3D sonic game), and Rage. Yep, I love that game, even with its mediocre reception... just like Doom 3.

Textures being low in Doom 3? From what I remember it was one of the most demanding games for VRAM. To enable Ultra you had to have 512MB I think which was massive amounts of VRAM then. I had 128MB in my 9800Pro.

It was demanding, and it required 512 of VRAM because at the highest settings the textures were uncompressed, but the textures were still low resolution.

심즈 2는 정말 문명처럼 재미있게 즐겼던 게임중의 하나인데, 최적화가 좋지 않아서 많이 아쉬운 게임인 것 같습니다. 언더그라운드2는 도시 배경이 네온으로 참 예뻐서 도로를 달리는 맛이 좋았던 것 같구요. 오늘도 영상도 잘보고 좋아요 누르고 갑니다 :D

I think KOTOR II technically came out in '05 for PC, but it still counts. I would also recommend Thief: Deadly Shadows, The Chronicles of Riddick, and Pirates! for '04.

99 for me bcouse of. Nocturne. Outcast. tomb raider 4. system shock 2 . residen evil 3. freespace 2. 2000 to 2001 max payne. hitman. nfs porcshe. alien vs predator 2. dino crisis 2.proejt igi. the thing that 2004 was best bcouse of fps games. 99 to 2001 not jsut pc exlusive fps games all genres.
