I bought my V Star 650 in September 2017 after watching many of your videos on them. At the time I was in college and had no place to store the bike and therefore couldn’t learn to ride until this year. Mine sat under a shed with a cover on it for nearly 3 years and all it needed was a new battery, fuel, and some cleaning. I’m now enjoying the ride thoroughly. Btw my lovely wife enrolled me in an MSF course so I could learn to ride and get my license. Huge props to her for setting me up and pushing me to follow through with this dream.

Anyone looking to get a bike new or experienced rider, you have to ck out SRK cycles before you purchase. I went by there, Sean is a good dude that knows his stuff. I will be picking up my V Star 650 on Monday and couldn't be happier. I did go to a couple of other dealers to ck out their bikes but working with Sean and the bike I test drove was just right. Sean thanks for everything man, you have a life long customer.

Love my 99 Yamaha I bought from an old man for 1k. Had 19k miles. And always been in a garage at home. Best decision I made to this day. To think I was going to swap the vstar for a grom but I totally changed my mind and said I need to keep it’s just so much fun.

This would be an amazing beginners bike. Not too expensive, great styling. Although you can't compare a Harley to any kind of other motorcycles out there. But for the price, it's really close to an 883 Sportster, so I might just get that.

I've got a 2005 650 Classic and it's been a good bike. Mine pretty much looks like a Heritage Softtail. I actually had a 2001 Heritage Softtail FLSTN before I got the Classic. The Classic is just about as capable as the Harley was and acceleration is about the same. I've got a windshield and sissy bar on mine and crash bars, highway pegs. I had a friend who bought his wife a Classic and after riding around with her on my Harley it was apparent that they were pretty even on the highway and when accelerating at speed. Harley surely needed the 6th gear long before they finally got it. I kind of wish that my Classic had a 6th gear too.

If you like these you'd love a Vulcan 750 I owned a 92 Vulcan 750 and it was by far the most comfortable bike most reliable bike and they never break down totally bulletproof they run forever there are some you can find online that have over 200,000 miles on them and never had to change a part. Just maintenance.but good luck on Yamaha 650 they are great bikes and the new ones are extremely well made

You mentioned two things in this video that struck me funny! How bad I wanna go under one of those fertilizer tractors and big guy on a little bike. I had a rebel 250 and am 5'6" but around 240 lbs. About 45 mins of riding it I would develop NJS (Numb Junk Syndrome) . I now ride an 02 Honda Sabre . Fits me well and a pleasure to ride. I've put around 7k on it since last July.

I had a 650 with a sidecar total weight of Rider and passenger 550 pounds +. Rode many times from Anderson to San Francisco with no problems doing cruising speed 75+ average. 200 to 300 mile trip one way. And I would not consider a beginner bike I hate that word. I made a cafe racer from a Honda 4-400cc from Anderson to L.A. every weekend for 2 years driving at speed of 100 to 110 miles per hour was always reliable.

I do a lot of outdoor photography using my bike and it is the perfect size for making sharp u turns on narrow back roads and yes after three year I thoroughly love it and have been on long rides with no issue. Unlike a Harley you do not need to babysit this on like you have to keep an eye on your Harley, I have left it on the side of the road chasing a shot and it is always there when I come back. Third gear is the sweet spot, you can run that one longer.

I'm neither "average" nor am I a "beginner". I have an IQ of 83 (which by today's standards makes me somewhat of a genius). And, I have over 2 months saddle time so I'm a grizzled old veteran biker. But I want to tell you that I LOVE my V Star 650. It does everything well and it looks great ! All kidding aside, this is a great bike, mine is a '98. I will be seeing you when I am ready for a newer bike. If you guys are half as decent as you seem, it will be my pleasure to do business with you.

I ride the 125cc Dragstar which I know isnt close to the 650, but i feel the same that it doesnt "pull" but it accelerates "well" and doesnt hang about, especially for what it is. Very easy going and smooth, just abit of a pain to maintain over our UK salty winter roads

so I'm just going off of videos... I'm looking at bikes I can afford, so far i've found a honda shadow 600 for $2200(only 2900 miles too), a kawasaki vulcan 900 for $2500 and I'm seeing a couple of vstar 650's that are within my price and only a couple hours away. I just drive about 7 miles a day to work, and I'd like to drive around town a bit. The V-stars sound a lot better, i know youtube doesn't show off exhaust videos correctly though... The shadow 600 looks like the best deal near me, looks like it might just need the tank drained and the carb cleaned out. I want the best sound I can get though... something that tickles my ears and makes me grin every morning... Should I make a small trip to get a vstar over the local bikes I see?

Hi, I've been riding bikes almost all my life, I started with a Yamaha Enduro 400, then a Virago 750 that I loved and Kawasaki Z1R 1000 that I found very heavy. I stopped riding motorcycles for about twenty years after a major accident. Two years ago the taste of riding a motorcycle reappeared , to restart gradually and softly I bought a maxi-scooter, a Suzuki Burgman 650 that is very fun to ride, but now I'm ready for a real bike. I like the Honda Shadow 750, but even more the Yamaha V-Star 650, but what stops me from this bike is that in many articles that I read, we talk about a problem of vibration when approaching 100 kmh/65 mph, is this a real problem and what do you think about it? Thank you for answering my question A wink of a guy from Quebec ;)

Im having a hard time finding a replacement and have yet to get on stryker or a raider but my hopes are something bigger and comparable. Harley let me down and so did Kawasaki.The vstar 950, roadliner, 1300 and warrior feel like shit too. Starting to lose hope on finding a bigger bike that feels like the custom 650. Just not anything like it in the handling department and comfort.

Have you rode the YZF-R3? I am choosing that bike over the GW250 from Suzuki! I like the appearance of the R3 much better,...price wise it comes in between the Honda CBR300,and Kawasaki Ninja 300! I have sat on the R3,and found it to be more comfortable than the CBR300,and Ninja 300! At 320cc,the R3 will be enough for me! I thought about the V Star 650,but felt it may be too powerful for me to start out on! I'm looking at a purchase time frame of about four to six months as I want to pay off a couple small bills first and get my learner permit first,...which I am studying for!

John Ingram He was looking at the 13-digit VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), which every auto, SUV, m/c, etc has. The VIN number gives the manufacturer, date of manufacture, country of origin, model, etc. it is located on the front head stalk on most modern bikes, and at the driver's side right below the lower edge of the windshield in cars, trucks, and SUVs. They are also stamped in the frame and engine in several covert places as well.

This is not comparable to a 838. The 838 is stiff as hell and feels like crap. I am a huge huge fan of how well made the Yamaha custom 650s are. They handle like a dream and are very comfortable. Harley can't trump Yamaha in these low end bikes. I'm actually so tinkled by the vstar 650s ability to handle and control. comfort comfort comfort. NOT THE CLASSIC 650. Those are not remotely the same as the custom 650.

Yes 70-85 is very doable but it is very windy and I think the high humidity in Florida makes it worse so you might find yourself tucking in at 80-85

Gilberto Rendon blue collar bobbers seems to be a good bobber kit option. That's who I'm going to when I get my bike. Little pricy but they have everything you'll need and instructional videos on how to do it all!

I have been true to Harley my whole life and specifically only certain years and bikes. What I see here is a smart motorcycle. Its cheaper than a sportster, has similar power, and it makes a good learner bike. Why spend sportster money on something you are going to drop? This is not winding out to hang at 70. If it tops out between 110-120 it will have plenty of power to truck down some highway roads or interstate if you love that abuse. New riders should never be on anything under 500cc. They just don't offer the power needed to escape cars. Last stats I heard the majority of accidents involved these factors. Under 500cc Under 25 years old Under 5 years experience Under the influence. 28 years of riding and ridden with them all. I would give this machine 4 1/2 stars for a learner, commuter, I just want something to ride motorcycle. Under $3,000 sounds even better. Bet it gets over 45 miles per gallon too. If more people rode motorcycles our roads would be much better to ride down. Be safe.

@shanekeat7473
@shanekeat7473 4 жыл бұрын
@John thanks John. My 250 is air/oil cooled which i have been told is better for long rides, i travel anything up to 700km in a day on my bike so its important to me that it's got as much cooling as possible especially for the hills, we have some huge hills here where we can be going up one for 10 or 15 mins and its steep so the bike works hard
