I went to the dealer for cabin air filters and they were charging $50.63 for OEM. I said forget it. At NAPA Auto Parts it was only $14 after tax for both. Easy to install. Thanks for video.

Everyone should know that the filters are a real pain to install. The dealer did mine last time and when I pulled them out, the last in was all crincled and bent up. Just another one of Nissan great designs ( sarcasm) Its really not "that easy" as the video maker says at the end. Mine was also missing the door to the box.

Thanks for the video. I decided to change my air filter for the first time and found out I didn't have any. That explains why my air would smell of it had been raining

Just did mine. Took less than 10 min. Mine was missing the screw and had a zip tie holding it up top. The previous owner had the glove box marked with the date it was last replaced, July 2017. The filter I pulled had no arrows. I put my new ones in arrows DOWN, but who really gives AF. Easy way to slide the 1st filter over is to have a really long flathead screwdriver, run it along the side of the filter and slide it over. The last one just slides in easily cuz the 1st one is set correctly along the whole length of the filter. I zip tied it back the way I found it across the missing screw area. I marked the backside of the glove box with today's date

2012 Xterra Pro 4X Weird, mine were installed the same w/ arrow pointing up. Even recently had some services & the Nissan shop checked them meaning they either put them back in upside down or just left them that way. The service dept recommended they be changed (and they needed it) but they said total would be $126 - not going to happen I am a perfectly capable person....$31.14 at Amazon - Nissan parts. I can't even imagine how long they were calculating labor. I really appreciate the video - I know its in the book but video is just better. I also changed my engine filter w/ a Wix ($16.66 Amazon)- I can't believe ppl actually pay others to do that. Filters were a bit of a pain to seat back in b/c of the angles and the way it is tucked into the compartment - once you put the first one in and scoot it to the right grab a yard stick to get it all the right to the right where it should be then the 2nd one will go in easy.

So I was replacing my air filters and as soon as I removed the screw the cap popped off. Didn't think much of it until I tried to pop it back on and it wouldn't stay in place. Seems like they broke the tab at the factory and so that screw was VERY important. Keep an eye out for that.

I replaced mine recently. The arrows were pointing up in mine as well. Also, Joseph Dailey is right, the clip breaks off easily. Mine is a 2007 so its understandable. I think they added the bolt option in the event that the clip breaks, at least that makes sense to me. Good luck everyone.

Just checked mine out of curiosity. Strange one filter had an arrow up and the other down. Now we have a true bag of hit to deal with. Both of mine were loaded as they have not been replaced since 06. Great video. Yes the glove box is a bit of a challenge but if you use some M.A.N. power it will open.

Great video. Funny I installed mine today and what I mean by install, I never had filters installed in mine from the factory. The compartment was empty. My bolt was also missing. Thanks for the video.

It was much more difficult than the video showed. First, the dealer charged $38 for the two replacement filters, about 4-5x what I could get on-line. Totally ridiculous. Next, lowering the glove box off the support pins required both hands and much pressure. Next, the retaining clip would not release to open the filter box, so it needed to be bent such that is was damaged. Next, removing and replacing the filters was tough. Poor fit. Some duct tape secured the box cover. Big hassle.

I recently bought a used 2011 Suzuki Equator (same as a Frontier ) and mine had an phillips head screw holding the door on, the retaining clip broken, and NO FILTERS! I checked several sources, as well as the Factory Nissan service manual "The in-cabin microfilters are marked with air flow arrows. The end of the microfilter with the arrow should face the rear of the vehicle. The arrows should point downward."

Took mine into the place where I always have the oil changed. They said the filters needed replacing according to the schedule (I've had my Nissan for nearly two years now), but when the time came, the guys said they couldn't find where the filters were. ^_^; At least I now know where they are.

I replaced mine today. While pressing down on the filter door locking tab the tab broke. I used a tie wrap thru the screw hole to keep it closed. Mice had eaten thru the filter. There were nut shells everywhere.

I am not sure if it really matters, but there is a reason why the engineering group at Nissan designed it this way.

i wonder how much direction of flow indicated matters on these particular filters, since they don't appear to have extra support on either side. i'm thinking it's for point of reference, so that if inspected and put back it's not reinstalled the opposite way.

Don't buy OEM filters at the stealership. AC Delco Cabin Filter $11.10 on Amazon.
@redonKiLaus
@redonKiLaus 7 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree, unless you have a parts hookup the dealership is not the best price by any means. You can get OEM filters discounted to around the same price as the AC Delco on Amazon and some other sites as well if you wanted to stick with the original Nissan parts for any reason. Thanks for watching!

I agree. It is possible some manufactures, including the Nissan OEM, imprint arrows to indicate the direction of installation (going up or down), whereas other manufacturers'arrows indicate the direction of airflow.

I have a 2011 Frontier and same configuration as the video. Don't push down on the clip. You push up and then the clip breaks off and your cover will fall on your floor mat. Hmmmmm??? What the ****** No screw on the cover so I'm going to have to install one to keep the cover on. Where are the filters? I don't see any. Guess I don't need any filters so I cancelled my order.
@Sivnoc

At least on my 2013 the tab must be pushed UP to remove the cover, not down as stated in the video. Perhaps Down is the way it was on the 2005 - 12. Not exactly intuitive which may explain why so many are broken; but also that tab is fragile. Anyway, thanks for the video.

Joseph is correct, the arrows go up. If you wet your fingers and put them in the air filter space while the A/C is running, you will feel that the air flow goes UP. And Joseph is also correct when he says "be careful with the clip" Mine broke. Oops.
