After 6 months of owning the 2005 Chevrolet Evanda (a.k.a Daewoo Magnus / Suzuki Verona), I can honestly say that this is the best value car I have owned in my life. I originally spent 2900€ for this car here in Finland (our total car tax rate is 50%, so the actual value is even less than that).
---
The Daewoo Magnus is a mid-sized sedan developed and manufactured by Daewoo from 2000 to 2006. GM Daewoo and other General Motors divisions, as well as GMDAT stake holder Suzuki, have marketed this car under different badges in various countries.
Class: Mid-size car (D)
Engine: 2.0 L L34 I4 - U20SED (gasoline)
Transmission: 4-speed automatic

I have Evanda. This car is original Daewoo model (1999) before Daewoo went bankrupt and GM took over. It was sold alongside Leganza in Korea until 2002. About brakes, yes they wear out quickly because car is too heavy. Your car is automatic so 10L/100km is normal, mine takes about 8.5/100 since i have manual gearbox. Car is otherwise really well made, and really reliable, I had to replace original clutch after 330 000km ! . Make sure you change oil every 10 000km and oild and air filter too and engine will survive forever. Also timing belt is said to last 80 000km, but since engine is identical to leganza's engine, i highly recommend to change it after 60 000km. Parts are issue, these cars are not that common. Many things fit from epica and leganza (2002 model only). Oh and also, you may want to get bottom of car sealed with something to prevent it from rusting.

Great response! Much what I heard elsewhere as well. The car is still running great, just had some minor chassis parts changed, which took some effort to find (had to purchase online).

@@henrynordman it's been 2 years since I saw this video for the first time. So here is my update. I now own 2005 Chevrolet Evanda, same as you, but I rebadged it back to Daewoo. I sold the last one to my friend and then bought my actual Evanda from him. So it was sort of a swap. Anyway, I have it over a year and I bought it for 1600€ . It is automatic as yours, but with only 99000 km done. Consumption is same as yours, around 10L/100km. Now.... What I've noticed is that my older Evanda was built from better materials - mostly plastic parts were better than in 2005 version. I can tell GM started cheaping out on parts. Also I don't really like the behavior of gearbox, even after oil replacement it's still not as smooth as manual was. Maybe it's just bad piece or there's not enough oil, i don't know. I had to replace ABS sensor already - i replaced whole wheel bearing as it is a bolt on replacement - and also camshaft position sensor, then I had to fix head cover gasket as it was leaking already. And I have problems with immobiliser, which I never had before on older model. Otherwise, this Evanda's suspension feels a bit "harder" than old one - old one was more on soft side, like leganza. So that's all I can say now about never model. Engine is otherwise still reliable.

@@elsombra4979 same thing, I think it was called Epica in some countries, but it's just a Daewoo Magnus under another name for another market.

My friend, I am watching this video from Turkey and I was surprised to read the comment you made about the tax rate in your country at the beginning of this video. You don't know how lucky you are to be born in such a wealthy country. You could buy a 2900 Euro car with the 2021 minimum wage in Finland by working for 2 months. In Turkey, the exact same car costs 320,000 Turkish Liras. The minimum wage in Turkey is 17,002 Turkish Liras. So, I need to save 19 months' salary to buy this car. You don't know how lucky you are as Europeans. By the way, 45% of employees in Turkey work for minimum wage.

Thanks! I had the car for about 1,5 years before I sold it. I miss this car a lot but fuel consumption and maintenance was a bit too much. Biggest problem was finding parts when something needed to be fix for the annual inspection. If you can get it cheap and with recent inspection done, I think its a solid option to drive until the next inspection 👍

Is it a quiet engine, noise not intruding passenger compartment?

@@legenddrift6395 I paid about the same for my own. The only nitpick I have is that it uses a lot of fuel. Automatic gearbox is about 14l/100km in the city. It has the most silent engine I've ever seen. If it has no rust and no codes and drives well, I can't see why not at the very least make an offer.
