2005 Ford E350 - Stalling / Smoke Testing

We have here a 2005 Ford E-350. The customer complains that it stalls while driving. It has codes P0171 & P0174. It seems like a vacuum leak, so we go through the joy of smoke testing a Ford van's intake. Hope you enjoy!

It's really handy, The only downside is you have to use their fluid. It's not to badly priced.

@@advancedleveldiagnostics yeah a quarter of the price of the OTC leak tamer... Does it put out good thick smoke?

@@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics I don't think it's as thick as my other unit the Autool 206, But I still prefer using this one because it maxes out at 1PSI. With my other one, I feel like I'm going to cause a lot more problems😀

It's a very nice smoke machine for the price. I bought one when they first came out and it's very easy to use.

It's a shame when a customer declines the repair except for him fixing it himself. Egr valve should be easy repair. Not expensive either. Great diagnosis.

Good find on the EGR valve leaking. I guess the customer is waiting for it to set a code before he replaces it.

That's smoke machine... I also have the autool and I worry about it's pressure ability... I've had mine as high as 20psi on a coolant system before... I'm always worried that if I don't have a leak...I will after testing with the 206 😂

Yeah cus I work on car for a long time but I’m not good with diag especially after 05 and when I fix little thing or tell the customer what’s wrong they fix them self or take it somewhere an I got nothing but mi time wasted.

@@jordysandino6577 I only work for shops and dealerships, no private customers. I charge a Fee for coming down, and that includes an hour of diag.

I use it to make sure it's not to high at idle, because that usually means the MAF has an issue. It's not always helpful I'm just in the habit of getting it.

I use the Cardaq 3+, works for most jobs.

@advancedleveldiagnostics I really like ur videos, I am a tech and have been since 1987, things hv changed in big way, im on fence about autel im608, I hv a honda battery got low now blinking green security light 2007 honda crv, shld I do all keys lost, doesn't recognize either already programmed keys, any help, I know ur busy, im chuck by the way, tractor trlr alignments car n trk repair, just not alot of immo help out there to my specific problem. Knothing happened other than went out to start car, my gut is telling me immo in column

@@charlesmecum5009 Automotive locksmith here. Keys/fobs don't lose programming. They can break and not work at all but they don't lose programming. Honda's have a BCM and keyless entry module. I don't work on the car side but I know about those modules. For just keys a 508 is cheaper and a KM100 is a really good bang for the buck but first figure out what the issue is as programming keys at this point is just guessing. We have a 608 too and it's great as a scan tool and to program keys if that's what you are looking for.
