I had the twin to that car. I owns it from 89k to 250k the guy I sold it to took it past 1 million. Breaks and wheelbearing at 200k that's all I did to it. If it was a 4 door I would still have it.

Hi Russell, Thanks for watching and wow that's amazing. It goes to show how good Toyota echo's are a d how far they will go. This particular car was bought brand new and has never missed a beat yet and still plenty of kms to go on it.

@386vwade, Thanks for watching I do appreciate it and the Echo is one of the most reliable cars out there. This one was around 200,000 kms and never missed a beat and also there are a lot driving around as well.

I love this car. I have driven one for 8-9 years. Cheap to run. Mum just crashed mine. I am seriously considering buying another one. Excellent for people with glasses. Easy to park. Only down side, if you are 6ft tall , it is not the car for you. My sister finds it to squishy.

Hi Sabby, Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it, and it's people like you that help this channel.The echo's are an amazing car, and i really enjoyed driving it. The owner of this one said it was the best car they ever owned. Yes they go forever those cars. Minimal maintenance. That's a shame your mum crashed it and I am sure you will get another one as there are plenty still out there and you always see them around and yes they are very easy to park and see out of. I did find it a little tight when inside and driving around like your sister did but it was a good fun car to drive. Thanks again.

@@agautomotive Thanks. 🤓 Some people are put off by the look. But if you can humble yourself and think of the engine and running costs it gets 99%. Would also highly recommend this car for singles/ single mums. I just saw an echo clock 440000 km, with not many repairs. Only issue wuth mine was a squeeky belts in hot dry climate, even when putting new belts on still had issues. Never had to top up oil. I did regular mainteance. Loved it despite wear and tear and colour fade.

@Sabby899-qp1dw that's right the shape take some getting used to and I think it looks small amd mighty and yes the Echo's can go forever with minimal service. That's a shame about yours with the belt and yes most of them have paint fade.

Did they modify this design and call it the Scion iQ/Aston Martin Cygnet?

Hi Zythr99, The "Yaris" and "Echo" names were also given to the export version of the related Japanese market Vitz hatchback, from which the Platz derives. I am pretty sure they didn't modify the design but yes they both have similar designs to them.

@@agautomotive Hi AG Automotive Thank you very much. I know the first Scions were based off the ECHO chassis, so maybe when Scion was looking for a new entry level car they went back to this design again😀

@@zythr9999 your welcome. Yes I think they may have as they are a good chassis and long lasting as well.

Scion iQ was way smaller than the xD which is the chassis successor to the xA which was a cousin of the Echo/Platz and that was a brother of the Funcargo. The xB and xA had a muffler which would fit but about 8" too short for the echo sedan/platz. But it was easy to add pipe. That's what she said. Sadly

@@marshmower Thanks for the bit of info. It's very interesting about the chassis of the echo and similar vehicles with slightly different chassis.
