2005 Transit How to change your transit Connect front wheel bearing (mobile mechanic)

I got an ABS fault and a howling noise on my van. so I took a look and found a warn wheel bearing.
this is how I did it. it's kind of on a DIY basses just so you can see how to do it..... but I did a lot of this by feel and experience. wheel bearing are actually quite sensitive and easy to damage if miss treated, so if you follow the steps in this video you could end up damaging your wheel bearing, hub, or yourself so proceed with caution

I’ve done this job many times, doing it again tomorrow, my point here being you did it without a press just a couple of hammers...very well explained and like previous comments we don’t all have professional tools, you have done a great job, thank you.

I did it yesterday, all went ok, I have got a bearing kit, the one with plates and a huge bolt which which as you tighten the bolt it pulls the new bearing in, not expensive but very useful 👍

Anthony Algorithm thanks you! Yes with a little common sense and accuracy you can do it without a press. All tho sometimes it is better to just strip the hub and have a garage press it in and out just to make sure

Anthony Algorithm 😂 you won’t need to be as accurate if you use lest strikes 😂 It is hard work mate, I recommend a good nights sleep before hand 😂

Really good video. You're not supposed to hit hammer to hammer as possible to shatter. Oh, just noticing, having just kinda learnt, Use only Black Grease for the bearings. Great practical advice dude. LOL

Great vid, but you really need to buy a press, a pair of circlip pliers and bolt your vice down 😂

I have all of them and can honestly say they make everything so much easier. But as the description says, this is a DIY approach to show people who havent got those tools how to do it

😂😂 It's normally just used to hold a carrier or something so doesn't need bolting down... Its difficult on the odd occasion tho 😅👀

It did! I will say tho and be honest. The bearing doesn’t last as long when done this way…. But if your desperate and haven’t got a press this will get you out of trouble

did the bearing have to go a certain way due to the sensor pickup ?

Toppo beta xtrainer they have a magnetic pick up. So normally have a plastic protective cover. If yours doesn’t try pressing a paper clip or something small and magnetic against it

@@EllsAutoCare Just Banging the hub & bearing in and out with a hammer....... seems like a chimpanzee with an actual press could have done a better job. When I don't have the right tools for the job, I usually take the parts to a machine shop to do it right. Looked like a bit of a cluster, Mate

@@EllsAutoCare It's all good.... We're all just trying the best we can. I just did this project....... but I took my knuckles to a machine shop and paid them $60 to press in and out the ball joints and bearings...... And they still fucked it up.......

@@NativeSD53 that’s interesting because this wheel bearing is still going 4 years later using the chimpanzee method but your shop can’t do it with a press? Shows it’s the hands the tools in not the tool itself
