A very good teacher. 👍 You should make more videos and start a course to train DIYs in your school.

Just put a gasket on mine. Taking the cowl off first helped a lot. Last weekend put gasket on valve cover and check valve adjustments. My issue was oil leaking. Hopefully I’m good for a long time.

I had mine with the same problem and code. First i resetted by OBD2 scanner then came again. I unhooked battery cable but still the same code appear. Finally I removed the VTEC assembly, replace the filter and thoroughly clean the inside with throttle body cleaner. So far so good until now.

This helped a ton! I'd removed the vtec valve due to a bad oil leak and replaced the gasket and reinstalled..next day noticed first that cruise control wouldn't work, then car would stutter while accelerating. Long story short I just forgot to plug one of the sensors in.

I’m getting a p2647 code on my 04 Honda Civic but my engine is not equipped with a vtec solenoid. The code is reading a stick rocker arm. Any ideas on this?

My code was the same I changed the whole assembly and my check engine light is still on any thoughts?

4:20 Thanks for the tip about using a 6 point socket on the bottom bolt. I had been using a 12 point socket and it kept slipping off due to the weird angle. I wasn't replacing the whole valve--just the gasket--but your video was very helpful for that part in particular.

I was going this blind I put all three bolts back in cause I couldn’t reach the bottom one with out taking the cover he took off at the beginning. I’m try again

Would this engine be considered a SOHC vtec engine?

Do you have to change oil after replacing this thing ?
@ivanxva5 ай бұрын
My mechanic recommended not to unless you check the oil level with the dipstick and it clearly looks to be pretty minimal.

Would you please provide the estimated time it took you to do the complete job? I will have to take the car to the mechanic to get this done and want to have a +/- idea on what he will charge me. Thanks, greats video.

I could be wrong but if the part is around 200 and it looks like a 1-2 hour of work depending on the mechanic. I’d range cost to be 400-500

Yup, never ever get a non OEM part for these 8th gen civics. You will pay for it. If you gotta replace anything, buy it directly from honda. These cars do not react well to aftermarket shit.
