Thanks for this Video!!!!....I literally spent $500 in mechanic work in the past week...diagnostics, MAF cleaning, throttle body cleaning, head gasket repair sealer, air filter, new pvc valves, oil flush, oil change, spark plug checks....I stumbled onto this video after still having the “horrible rough idle”...got the part at autozone ($69) and yes people DO NOT BUY CHEAP online parts!!!!..replaced the solenoid following the steps and BAM!!!!!! ....you saved me another $160 in mechanic labor when I told them I wanted to replace it for me....literally took me 5 mins!...and my H3 is purring like a kitten....if you’re ever in NJ I owe you a beer bro!!!!

Thanks for the vid. Just had thenp0014 drop on our 2006 at 190,000 miles. Ran fine with cel on. Got it home scanned it to get that code, cleared it, seems to be running fine, but wanted to know the location of the part, so I thankfully landed on your video that shows how easy peezy it will be IF the cel reappears.

what kind of code you were getting, that made you replace this sensor?

1st of all that is VVT and not solenoid. The solenoid is on the righ side of the engine. VVT and cam shaft sensor if bad they will cause chugging and idling, but then you will get a Check Engine light ON, if not then they are not faulty! To help you out and others in here, the chuggin, rough start, or rattling can be for one of the following reasons unless you have a code that tells you stright away what is your problem: 1- air filter (replace) or check if it is well installed (if new) 2- clean the air mas sensor. 3- clean the throtle body. 4- check the Sparks and the Spark plug cables. By removing them one by one and put them back on one by one while the car is turned on. The one that will not reduce the engine power is a faulty one and u need to change. 5- finally check your fuel injectors for low performance one. Hope i helped

my 07 is rough at idle. i did the plugs and throttle body ,air flow sensor per your vid. the car ran great for 24 hrs. back to rough idle.????did you ever figure it out?i learned alot from your vids but im still chasing the fix. i have no codes

Try your air filter if they get dirty they start to chug pretty bad.

Thats a variable valve timing sensor or vvt. Dirty oil or extremely low oil can make it not work also.

My Hummer h3 sometimes driving smooth but sometimes gear shifting delay driving heavy any one face some problem ?

I REQUEST YOUR HELP - Hummer H3 2006 - error code P0171 (poor mix) and excessive consumption Hello, I greet you from PARAGUAY and I request a KIDNEY help because I have been wanting to solve it for a long time and I am not finding the origin of the fault VEHICLE: Hummer H3 2006 / vortex engine 3.5 lts. / Naftera / automatic gearbox / 4x4 full time FAILURES: - Check with error code P0171 (poor mix) intermittently (appears and then the check light disappears) - Exaggerated fuel consumption (40 liters per 100 km). THE FUEL TRIM SHORT TERM EXCEEDS 30% (POSITIVE) OBSERVATIONS: Generally speaking the van works perfectly. It does not show obvious failures in operation. Only a small instability or variation in idle (but tiny) ACTIONS: - The air filter system was replaced as it had a competition system installed (open without a cover). The original was installed - Search for vacuum leaks (with a smoke machine). No leaks found - The oxygen sensor (sensor 1) was replaced by an original ACDELCO - The two catalysts were replaced (they had been emptied) - The spark plugs were replaced by the original ACDELCO (they had others) - Compression of the cylinders was measured (going from 180 to 195 psi) - According to the manual the maximum compression is 215 Psi - The fuel pressure of the system was measured and is 59 PSI (according to a colleague the pressure is OK as it should be between 50 to 57 PSI with a 10% plus / minus tolerance) - Disassemble and remove the fuel pump inside the tank to check. At first glance everything is fine. The pump, pressure regulator, filter and marker of fuel level ALL OK very clean - Replacement of the flowmeter (MAF) with a new original (GM) - On several occasions place Clean injectors in the fuel tank, however it does not show symptoms of dirty injectors. That to keep them clean - Unlock the hole in the Positive Carrier Ventilation System (PCV) as it is fully latched. This hole that according to the manual is 2.5 mm is part of the ventilation system, Apparently DOES NOT HAVE VALVE PCV. - On the valve IAC I can not say since I did not find it This van was referred to several colleagues and we could not find fault Any suggestion.
