We’re diagnosing and removing the NSG370 6 speed from RubiKidd in this video. Jeep in question is a 2006 Wrangler TJ Rubicon. One thing we’ve found out is that the NSG370 was used in 2005 to 2018 Wranglers with the latter trans being better. We’re hoping to install some of the updated parts in this transmission.

I'm looking forward to watching your videos! I went into mine completely blind. After sourcing the tools, I went for it. Kinda made it up as I went. My only regret is the carbon synchro's. They do fine when the trans is warmed up, but are notchy when cold. I will be doing a follow up video removing them and going back to bronze (some day). Time permitting, I am working on a kit to refurbish the shift fork assembly. There is no reason we have to get rid of it for a few broken pieces of plastic if the metal portion is still serviceable. Awaiting your next video!! 44Mechanic

The shifter fork assembly is a shame. I look at Mercedes-Benz in a different light now. I want you to know we really appreciate you coming here and that in no way do we intend on this replacing your videos. You did an outstanding job with great humor in the videos. The reason we did this video series as I’m concerned as these jeeps age out parts will start to become harder to come bye if people aren’t showing how to rebuild them. We did a lot of research on Harley‘s Rubicon and with the wheelbase that the TJ has there is no good solution concerning a replacement. I need to stress that in a upcoming video because some of the options out there require adapters and then you’re stuck with even a shorter rear driveshaft. Again, really appreciate your comment here and hopefully me saying your name throughout our series pushes people to watch both our channel’s. Concerning those plastic parts on the forks I remember you saying about possibly a bronze replacement. That would be a great idea. I know the parts for the rebuild are expensive but that one alone is ridiculous to be replacing that whole shifter fork assembly. Looking forward to your videos concerning replacing the carbon synchro’s.

Great start to a video series!!....As for the chains on the firetrucks....those are automatic tire chains for crappy weather..an arm drops down and flings the chain under the tires for traction

Makes total sense about the chains. Is the 120”SE fast?😀

I really appreciate you taking the time to answer. Many don't. If they had to replace the clutch, how many parts would you consider changing? Obviously the clutch kit, flywheel, slave cylinder, what? another piece you would change to be sure that everything will be good for a long time
@RubiKidd06

The pilot bearing and throw out bearing I absolutely would change beyond what you had mentioned. You most likely already were thinking of these two anyways.

good morning.. congratulations for your videos.... I ask you... which clutch manufacturer do you recommend for a 6-speed cgs370 of my 2005 TJ 6 L engine...?

I don’t have an opinion since we didn’t need to replace our clutch. Sorry

Depending on the brand of fire truck and the region of the country that the department serves there are different reasons for different chains. In the far south where we don’t have an issue with snow or ice the chains are for dispersion of electricity due to lightning strike or downed power line contact. Not disagreeing with other comments. Just telling you what I know from my department in south Florida

I think the chains dragging have something to do with disipating static electricity due to carrying oxygen on board.

Check on eBay. I sourced parts from several different companies and they were all selling on eBay as well.

Chains are likely “auto chain” snow chains, work ok for small amount of snow and ice. Real snow and real ice needs real chains.

Transmission Jack looks like just a plate with 4 post at the corners. Should be easily homemade.
@RubiKidd06
@RubiKidd06 3 жыл бұрын
Yes you definitely could. I will say a couple benefits of that Jack is all four corners have casters and the head pivots ahead and back and left to right. But you definitely could make a jig for a standard for Jack.

Im not gonna lie that rubicon jeep pretty bad it looks good but I prefer the stock look of the Sahara and this is why I understand all the armor and installing bigger tires so you don't have to lift it up high but the stock jeep just appeal to me better.My brother is 10 years apart from me and I remember him having a 94 or 95 Rio grande yj and a late 90s tj sport he got both when they were new not at the same time and being able to ride around them the jeeps new are pretty slick but like I said in the past I might put alittle more lift on mine but me personally don't off-road my Jeep to do all the modifying.Mine pretty much a good day cruiser or if the weather gets really bad I'll have a 4 wheel drive

Every time I go to modify the Sahara I pull back because I like the way the stock jeep looks so much. It’s just as capable as the Rubicon but without all the flare. But I love Harley‘s RubiKidd. It’s really hard for both Harley and I because we like all different different types of Jeeps. Actually we like anything four-wheel-drive from stock to wild. I totally know what you’re getting at.
