This is an overview and drive of a beautiful low mileage 2006 Mini Cooper S JCW. This was a really rare car and a blast to drive. Well taken care of and in great shape. I hope you all enjoy the video.

Bought a 2006 JCW in August of 2006. It's now November 2018 and I'm still driving it. Never miss an opportunity to make the supercharger scream as I search for a curvy road.

@@TheMINIac Hi mate, congratulations for the video. I'm writing from Chile. Actually I have a R56 JCW 2012 and I'm thinking change. I'm between to great options: First option R53 S JCW 2006 ( same of this video) with just 22.000 miles. In amazing condition. Second option : JCW GP2 with just 3.800 miles. Still smells new Of course this option is more expensive, but I have the budget for either of. I need an advise from an expert on Mini. I'm looking for sensations and fun. More than the sensations that give me the R56 JCW. So my questions are : exist a real difference between JCW R56 and GP2? Which one would you choose between R53 S JCW and GP2? Thanks bro

3:50 Here's an interesting fact for you, Zach. All of the R50s/R52s/R53s sold in Australia had the Mickey Mouse dials. Also, you'll be happy to hear that I have finally bought a MINI. He's a 2007 R56 non-S in Chili Red, White Roof, White Mirror Caps and White Bonnet Stripes (with matching Boot Stripes). He is fitted with the 16" R103 5-Star Blaster Silver wheels. I named him Charlie Cooper after John's grandson. Unfortunately for you, you may not enjoy driving him as much as I do as he is a 6 speed auto. I did have the power steering overheat the other day, but thankfully after turning him off and on again, it was fine. I guess you could say that its now a proper R56 seeing as the bonnet has been up. I have already had three Rule #1s and a kind of a Rule #1, the first one was with an F56 S in Volcanic Orange, Black Roof, and Black Mirror Caps, the second one being with another Chili Red R56 non-S with White Bonnet Stripes, Chequered Roof, Chequered Mirror Caps and Chequered Fender Decals, and an F56 S in Pepper White, Black Roof and Black Mirror Caps, and the third one being with another R56 non-S in White Silver, Black Roof and Black Mirror Caps. The "kind of a Rule #1" was with a Red FIAT 500C. Youification so far: - Union Jack Valve Caps - F56 JCW Air Freshener w/ Union Jack Design on it - Circular Union Jack Badge on the back left of the Hatch - Union Jack Seatbelt Cover - Union Jack Sunroof Shade (as the front half of the factory sunroof shade was missing) Youification plans: - Union Jack Taillights - Union Jack Mirror Caps or Side Scuttles or Both - Side Stripes (preferably one which says "MINI" or "Cooper" or "R56" or "MINI Cooper" or even "MINI Cooper R56")

Sums the car up perfectly. Just managed to acquire a November 2006 R53 JCW in Hyper Blue, fully loaded with options and only 64k miles, 2 previous owners. Not bad for a 17 year old car. Had a Cooper S Checkmate, 2010 JCW then a 2013 JCW previously. So happy to finally get THE one to own…..the last of the supercharged. As much as the Turbo JCWs are good, you just can’t beat the whine from a supercharger 😎😎😎

Better off getting a normal s if your guna mod it. The jcw had a 11percent reduced pully and a couple other bits. But other than those it's the same supercharger and intercooler etc. I've got an r53 it's running a kavs 17percent reduced pully etc. Lot less money and just as quick if not quicker. Mines the same as this brg same wheels etc but I have a white roof

JCW's are nice but agree with this....a decent facelift S with a filter/intake, exhaust and pulley reduction will be as quick if not quicker than a late model JCW. With a 15% pulley you are running quite a bit more boost than a stock JCW....many S's have dyno'd around the 210/215 crank hp mark with just a 15% pulley. Torque output tends to be better as well. The JCW's are more or less identical engine wise bar slightly bigger injectors, later cars like this had a ported head (though it wasnt done well and wouldn't contribute much if anything to power) and a half decent intake with vacuum controlled butterfly to increase intake noise at higher rpms. I gather you can put the 380cc JCW injectors in an S without mapping and they work well enough....not really necessary unless you really start hard tuning one tho. I have a very late build June 2006 S with factory diff, I love it and will likely never part with it. I did have an all BRG Cooper beforehand and have to say the colour combination is lovely. Is also worth noting that all facelift/LCI cars came with the 5th Gen teflon charger...it was one of the the LCI improvements along with the increase in horsepower, shorter gearing and the factory pop and bang mapping. The only real benefit to having a very late facelift is that it's more likely to have the diff as it only became an optional extra mid 2005. In the UK at least it was a cheap option and came as a no cost option with the Chilli pack but you still had to check the box and its 50/50 whether people did....makes it quite a rare thing on these. Mine has it and it definitely makes a difference.

@@TheMINIac I already own one of the first S imported in Canada. Either I go through some significant reno project plus upgrades or buy a newer one. Buying seems less risky, but it’s a close call (?). What do you think? I have a relatively new engine, though. Overall, 190,000 km/120,000 miles.

@@TheMINIac - Yes, I have a 2002 R53 S. But you referred to the next generation as ´F56´ instead of R56. The more reliable generation, as you said, but I prefer the more compact and better sculpted R53. Getting back to my MINI, I may end up putting $15K Canadian and tons of time on the project. A better equipped 2006 from the US or British Columbia (no winter) is an option that I believe must be considered.

This 1.6L has the same projected horsepower as a 4.6L!!!😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱. Mini wants to compete with the Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis!😂😂😂😂👌🏻. If they started to build something like a Buick or Oldsmobile, then they probably could. They’ve been overtaking the hot hatch market since the original 1275. And with the ERA Turbo 1275, they skyrocketed. And now, they’ve started making rivals for the Fiat Panda and Chrysler Grand Caravan.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That’s just how it is I suppose. A good idealistic company will always turn into a consumer friendly company. That’s the cold hard truth. I suppose things will never change.
@ziggy3237
@ziggy3237 5 жыл бұрын
The MINIac yup. That’s why I said that they should head into a similar market. If a 1.6L made by Mini can make the same amount of HP, then imagine if Mini decides to make a V8. It would be a police car destroyer. I know that there is a more than considerable weight difference, but if they decide to make a chassis that could hold a V8..... then there’d be no stopping them. But as if right now, they’re too interested in making crossovers to produce anything that could own up to that. It’s like this. If you have a pencil and a pen, you’d more likely choose the pen because of its immense technical system. But you wouldn’t think about a pencil lasting longer than a pen. It’s simply a basic human instinct to go for the all without thinking of a better solution. Which is why Mini can get away with losing their idealistic ways and creating solely for the American auto market which is full of practical eco freaks and consumerism. To sum it up, Mini could’ve easily created a monster but got caught up in medial pursuits.
