Thank you very much for the info! I had gotten REALLY nervous when I saw the oil on the plugs. A valve cover gasket doesn't sound too bad though. I think I can probably handle that. Thanks again for the info and the very helpful video!

thank you for this video. called my local mazda they wanted $5+/spark plug and $200+ for labor. He stated it took 2.5 hrs because it was at the back of the engine. Such BS. My friend showed me how to do it and I watched your video to make sure I had it down. This does not take 2.5 hrs.

lubricate the inner sleeve of the socket with very thin coat of silicone lube and you'll always keep your socket on the ratchet. I've been there.

NGK Iridium Spark plugs were used to replace stock spark plugs.

In 2006 i believe the 2.3 liter was fitted with "coil packs" (what the guy on the tutorial refers to the head), basically if you have pre 2006 Mazda 6 2.3 liter you will have spark plugs and not coil packs. So this video is just how to replace the spark plugs. so everyone with a 2.3 liter mazda 6 is good to go.

@scorpio13000 we did not have to measure the gaps. When you go to your parts store ask for pre gapped spark plugs.

@brian5o -- if you have oil in your plugs most likely you need to replace the valve cover gasket with the spark plug rings gaskets. The kit can run from 12 $ to 40 $ last I checked. But no you should not have oil in your plugs at anytime. Your spark plugs should always be free of liquids and debris. Hope this helps. BTW be sure to get the valve cover gasket kit not the head gasket kit which is something totally different and about 80$ more . Good luck !

Thanks for posting this video. It was very helpful in changing the plugs for my 2.3L Ford Fusion. I have a question. Did you happen to notice any oil on any of the plugs on your car? When I changed mine, the only plug not covered in oil was the 1st one on the passenger side. The two center ones were especially covered. The car seems to run fine. Is this a normal occurrence with ohc engines?

Thanks for the video. I have a '08 Mazda6 (2.3) with about 85,000 miles on it. Wondering what the signs of needing new spark plugs are? Thinking I should probably do this within the next year on my 6....?

Do you have the 3.0? Because that would required pulling the intake manifold (which would be ~2.5 hours by the book.) Just curious. :)
