Great looking forward to it. Can you also make a video for engine electronic harness where they all connect and also the hoses because thta will help alot during an engine overhaul. Thankyou so much@@resurrectionauto670

Hi there, really helpful. But to help anyone else, there are less steps than demonstrated. In fact removing the gearbox on the 4x4 is not much different from the front drive version. You will need a good selection of half inch drive extensions and a decent long ratchet, amongst other tools. Do NOT remove the cross member, this is the centre engine mount platform and it supports the engine both there plus the right side upper mount at the belt end of the motor. In fact, the transfer box forms part of the mount on that cross member. But, undo the 3 bolts with the 17mm head that secure the transfer box to the gearbox. These are accessed from the right side of the gearbox, two at the bottom and one at the top next to the rear bell housing bolt. These are the three bolts you indicated were really tight. Undo the two bolts with the 14 mm heads on the left side of the transfer box, (the pair on the face of the transfer box, not the transmission housing), that secure the brassy coloured bracket to the gearbox. Remove the left axle completely with the hub is probably easier, by disconnecting the lower arm ball joint and the strut bolts. The brake caliper will need to be unbolted and hung out of the way (do not hang it on the hose). Remove the right front wheel and plastic lower cover so you can access and undo the rear bell housing bolt. And that's it. It's not particularly difficult to do if you are a mechanic, in fact it's routine! I wouldn't recommend a home mechanic who doesn't really know cars to do this. Do not remove the transfer box. Did not drain it's oil. Do not remove the subframe in any way. Do not dismantle the right suspension or hub assembly But otherwise, as per the video. And take great care when reinstalling the gearbox to the motor as you have to simultaneously align the gearbox input shaft and the two output shafts that go into the transfer box. I found it easier to do this without power tools, there is so little room in some places. 4:18

Nice tutorial, thanks a lot. My car is a Suzuki SX4 2008 with automatic transmission. My engine needs a new rear main seal which is leaking like crazy. Instead of going through the trouble of removing the subframe, crossmember, the steering and practically half of the suspension, I wonder if it is much easier to remove the engine and transmission from the top using a crane. I've been searching the web for weeks, but I haven't found any video showing that approach. I guess I will keep on looking. Dismantling practically the whole car does not make much sense to me.

Thanks for making this video, super useful! Will be changing the clutch for a friend soon on the SX4. Was wondering if you knew the socket size needed for the hub nuts?

I intend on doing a manual swap on a sx4. Do you think I would have any problems with sensors? Do you have any tips or things that you think I should keep in mind for this project?

Hey, i have a 2007 ford ranger 4.0 V6 auto tran. I noticed my truck was having issues shifting gears. I would have to take my foot off of pedal then re apply in order for the gear to catch. Fast foward today truck struggles to go into reverse and for me to get it to Drive i have to start off in 2 gear ..kick it up to speed then shift back into drive so it catches then it drives just fine until i slow down or come to a stop then i repeat the process. Was low on transmission fluid..filled it up...was going to do a trans drip(no flush) then put fresh fluid in to see if that changes anything. Any advice ...thanks in advance....truck has 175k miles

Hey thanks for the comment. Honestly, it sounds like a transmission rebuild.

Hey wes its wes. I have a manual 07 sx4 aswell. Replaced the belt today and the idle rattle went away. Drove for an hour and the rattle came back. Do you think it could be my flywheel? Felt a loss in throttle response today too; had to rev it out quite a bit. Cheers.

Hey Wes. It’s really hard to know without being there. Doesn’t seem likely that it’s the flywheel
