Hi, 2days ago brought a 2012 R56S, 156Kms. Having same issue, white smoke coming when engine is hot & idle. There's a slight oil leak near rocker covers ( no dripping to floor). I checked radiator for any air bubbles while running the engine, nothing observed. It has been recently serviced with new oil filter, air filter & spark plugs. That's all I know about the vehicle and I'm really worrying now. If I do a vehicle diagnostic test ( Quoted $175/hr.) from a local repair shop will it give correct directions? or what should I asked for mechanic? When I check the forums for similar issues lot suggested following, 1. Thermostat Replace 2. Liqui-Moly Resealer Engine Oil Treatment 3. Head Gasket Replacement 4. Turbo service 5. PCV system checked with pressure analysis I know nothing about vehicles, and can you tell me where to start?

My 2011 just stalled out after sputtering for awhile. The first fix I saw on Utube was the fuse panel job at 2,500 for the repair. This might be all I need though and I have a new pcv in my shop! Thanks Man!

How flush is it suppose to sit please? Didn’t take note when took old one off and the new one doesn’t seem to fit flush. It has a lip but when pushing it and bashing it doesn’t seem to make a difference comes back up. Thanks 😊

My r56 n18 last weeks doing 8.5L/100km , normal driving in city, I found that my PCV valve was massive oil leak , I changed , also found that the plastic support was broke, infixe everything and new pcv valve and now I do 7l/100km ! Impressive ! Very important that valve

I have bmw f20 n13 engine, using oil pistons are less wet, At idle he is sounding weird so tomorrow wil change the pcv valve. I got als bluesmoke at some minutes idle and then pull the gasssssss and black exhaust tip

I've got a 2008 mini cooper has a service engineight on it keeps bringing up mass air flow signal I replaced mass flow sensor both variable timing sensors the only thing it keeps bringing back up is the mass air flow sensor signal any idea or help would be greatly appreciated

My 80-year-old dad's 2008 Mini R56 is sputtering and cutting out at low speeds. There is blue exhaust and smoke coming from the dipstick reservoir. Will a bad PCV show these symptoms or is it more likely blowby? How would you go about diagnosing? Thanks for the great video, BTW!

Thanks for the great video. I have 2008 R56. 1.6 petrol. I've had issues with the oil levels for sometime. When the car is switched off, the dipstick doesnt even show an oil level. But when i start the car the oil level on the dipstick was muh higher than the maximum. Yet, when i take sharp turns or brake abruptly, the oil warning lighy comes on. Therefore i topped it up a little and the warning light stopped coming on. But a week after that it came on again. I topped up oil. This trpeated a few times unitl i had from time to time added a whole 4 litre can. The last time i added oil was yesterday. Again, the dipstick dodnt even show an oil level before i started and i poured in about half a litrr which was the last of the engone oil i had. I then took the car on the motorway and as the revs went up there was a thick cloud of white smoke. I thought i had overfilled the crankcase and that that had caused the whiye smoke. I did an oil and filter change today. I used an engine flush before hand. However, the white smoke remains from start up. Could it be the pcv valve cpver thats gone

I have an 08 mini Cooper clubman s , drinking oil like crazy. Took it to mini they said my pcv system is failing leaking oil into the intake, they told me I need to replace the whole valve cover. just got the car so I told the dealer I got it from they said they would replace it if I bought the part , should I purchase the part or go for this pcv fix you suggested

I have an n12 engine also but on a 207 peugeot 1.6L VTI. The car does indeed eats oil in excess (which is "normal" by design) but also, when I stop at a red light and the car is warm enough, there's a smell of burning oil/exhaust in the car's interior. Could the PVC valve be the issue ? I ordered the part, so I'll do a follow up

Thanks for the video!, I checked my membrane and it's completely destroyed, had excessive oil consumption last week and blue smoked like crazy and intake filled with oil, I have a peugeot 207 cc ep6 5fw which comes with the same engine as mini n12.

Did the cold pipe have any oil in it? Mine is driving fine, good acceleration and boost etc. but I’m getting a white-ish smoke from the exhaust in between shifts. Turbo fading? I’m going to check my PCV valve since you made it so easy. Thank you brother! 👍🏻

interestingly enough. if you have a R56 cooper s. It has the n14 engine. which unfortunatly you do have to change the whole valve cover. just did it to mine. but the pcv valve going bad causes the same problems on the n14. just keep it in mind :)

It looks like u damaged the diaphragm with the tool when u where trying to remove it. Did u fix the cover after recoding? It didnt click right when u were trying to put it back in!

Well well, I was thinking my engine was ooof'd and needed rebuild. I have just ordered one from amazon. If this fixes my car you would be nothing short of a miracle find. My dip stick was dry like the one in this video, the exhaust in the same state and it chuffed out a blue / grey smoke. Praying that this sorts the issue.

got sputtering while idle. not much loss of oil. misfire cylinder 1. oil on top of 1 piston did valve cover, valve cover gasket, fuel injector, spark plugs and coils and o2 sensor. as well as mass air flow and vac line. could this be why its still not fixed and have oil on top of piston? leaning towards this or solenoid. not sure. they said i need a new engine but i don’t wanna believe it

My wife recently purchased a 2013 one owner R56 Mini Cooper with 85k. Well with our luck she was able to put no more than 500 miles on before it stalled out on her while driving. After a 10 minute cool down it start back up so I pulled the rear seat and did a test with the multi meter on the LPFP. While at idle it was reading just over 12v, after warming up I watched it go to just under 11v dc to low 10v dc then 0v when the car stalled. If you waited 10 minutes car would start and repeat the process. Long story short I was convinced it was the relay in the passenger side fuse panel so supposedly there was still some sort of extended warranty on it from the previous owner when the dealership ran the vin so of course it sounded great and had it flatbeded to dealership never telling them about our test. Received a phone call stating they scanned the car and not only needing a new relay (fuse panel) it supposedly needed a water pump and tires which made me chuckle. Ok thanks please just fix the relay and get the car running again. Well it's been almost a week now and we get another call stating they installed the new relay(fuse panel) which wasn't the problem, it needs a new ECU. $1600 later the car was brought back to the house on a flatbed with the same issue. Any idea on what to test without throwing new parts at it? Check engine light is on, runs for approximately 5 minutes then stalls out as I know the LPFP is not receiving power. haha I just paid 500 bucks for one. I will never ever drive a mini cooper. Unless offered one for 500. Thing rips. Burns oil. Little rough on low speed and fine other than that. Took it to my mechanic and guy said the codes are all German. Gunna try your method. Thanks for sharing. For the record I drive a 2011 crown victoria and that'll give you an idea what does it feel like going down to a mini cooper. I can fucking reach the other side door! But it's fun to drive though. And for the money? Unbeatable. You know what everyone should have a second beater car that they don't care about Yes! The PCV valve! I rememer the seller told me something about some valve, think its that. For 25 bucks fuck yeah I'll do it. Put another 500 down to turnbo charge it. Give it a crazy paint job.

Thank you for your video! I have been doing a lot of research on my 2009 mini cooper r56. I have been having a lot of issues with in since i bought it from a couple that i dont think took care of it. i have been changing my oil ever 3000 miles and trying to replace any parts that are throwing codes. i just ordered the pcv valve that you posted in your video. Hopefully that fixes it. I have gotten codes for intake valves and finally decided to open up my engine. Was thinking it could be a cracked head gasket. Its been drinking oil like crazy but also throwing a lot of different codes for intake valves and cylinder 1 and 3. When i opened up the engine i found that all 4 cylinders have a large amount of carbon build up on the exhaust side but the intake sides are completely clean. Been working off a few other videos on kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aLmEpsiD0cq8mKc.html youtube but really hoping this could be the main problem. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. :)
