With upgraded turbos, bolt ons, and a tune to boost the N54's output by 50%, might this E90 335i be the perfect sleeper?

This thing accelerates harder than the v8 M3 around the same era. People calls N54 the German 2JZ for a reason.

The happiest two days in an N54 owners life is the day they buy it and the day they sell it. 😂🤣 Ditched mine after 6.5k in repairs.

The B58 340i fixes the engine issues and reliability of this. Topher was drooling on it a couple of days ago, and said steering communicated road texture well. Might we look at that car fondly in 10 years as the 4 door Supra?

Exactly the N55/B58 are virtually the cars that JDM robbed us of.

@@iheartgs400 N55’s such a letdown. Really dies down in the upper RPMs. BMW’s target with it was to cut costs and make it more simple than the N54. The B58 is more reliable and can make power much, much better. If you want a project car, the N54 is the one to buy. So much better power delivery than N55. If you want the full package, B58 is the way to go.

The car needs rear subframe M3 bushings and M3 upper/lower front and rear control arms to handle well. Also a Wavetrac LSD.

I've wanted one of these for so long. So tunable and inexpensive at the cost of reliability. If I needed a second car this would probably be it.

I’m buying one within the next month. I’ve done a crazy amount of research into the reliability. To me it seems that once I’ve done everything once the right way that’ll it’ll run well from there on out as long as I maintain it. Plus fcp euro makes it easier along with the fact that I genuinely like wrenching

You slam a manual transmission to the point of grinding. I have arguably the best manual 6 speed. I use red line MTL. I would never allow you to drive my car! Finesse a manual transmission, hello!
