just a tip from an old salty rider whos streched a couple new chains trying to get stuck sprocket nuts off the countershaft, break your front sprocket nut loose before breaking the chain. this way you can keep it in gear and have a fat buddy sit on it and press the rear break instead of trying to get a special tool or jam something in there. if youve done the bike before it may not be necessary but ive seen factory countershaft nuts practically fuse to the sprockets and threads

Used clip style link on my vf750c. Not a single issue and very little chain stretch on my CZ Gold. After a few miles, I got the courage full throttle pulls then forgot about it. Love this chain. It's not stretching. At the time of this service I had a taller rear tire profile do to availability. Hated this tire from the start. Replaced tire with standard profile and went with a 1 tooth count sprocket change performance. I have my bike back. 500 rpm more at 65mph. Better milage. Better performance. It's a very happy Magna

Love to see you still giving the 600RR attention out here. I love my 2008 and did the same -1 in the front with a 520 chain two years ago. It really did open the bike up a bit, but I might go back to stock when I need a new chain. I daily the bike a lot, and the throttle is way more twitchy with the mod, which is fun..but dangerous to my license. And while it doesn’t offer “more” power, it does shift the torque curve towards the bottom end, boosting the acceleration a bit.
@Gnerko123
@Gnerko123 2 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t modify the torque curve anymore than it changes the power. Engine output remains the same, torque and power curves are unchanged. It’s just like you’re in a slightly/fractionally lower gear than you would otherwise be.
@JesterMasque
@JesterMasque 2 жыл бұрын
@@Gnerko123 Thus supplying more torque to the wheel at lower RPM, and less at higher. It’s basically a higher gear ratio, which shifts the torque curve lower for more acceleration and less top speed.
@Gnerko123
@Gnerko123 2 жыл бұрын
@@JesterMasque torque curves are generally defined before the transmission, at the crank or the flywheel. Transmission ratios don’t influence this. Even if you define wheel torque as a function of engine rpm, wheel torque is raised throughout the rev band, not decreased at higher rpm.
@JesterMasque
@JesterMasque 2 жыл бұрын
@@Gnerko123 I’m referring to wheel torque as could be read on a dynograph, which is the majority of my experience with this. Wheel torque doesn’t not always increase through the rev range, that would be more applicable to power ratings. Torque can peak in the low/mid-range and stay constant with slight drop off in the higher the revolutions. When a sprocket (the final gear ratio) is changed, you can see that peak torque is achieved earlier or later in the rev range. The torque curve shape & approach may not change much (if at all), but the peak will certainly change positions on the X axis.
@JesterMasque
@JesterMasque 2 жыл бұрын
@@Gnerko123 The same can be said about when you are in a lower gear (high ratio). You achieve peak torque lower in the rev range, but the top speed it reduced. Power ratings (such as HP, kW etc) will not be affected, as that is the engine’s ability itself to climb RPM’s and continue to torque the driveline.

Another great video. Great bike and great choice with the Speed O' DRD. I added it to my 2006 VTX1300C years ago and never looked back. I still need to add it to my 2006 CBR1000RR as it was of a bit off too, but oddly enough was mostly corrected within 2 MPH by going with a 190/55 Q3 tire with stock gearing (sprockets). So, I've been lazy about getting to adding the DRD to the CBR, but I need to get it done. Thanks for showing how easy and no need to pull tank, airbox, etc. off to plug it in. Great choice with the Lightech Chain Adjusters. Although, I'm very jealous as I couldn't find any for my 2006 CBR1000RR. Apparently, they stopped making them for my model/year or else I would buy them in a heartbeat. Can't believe you found them for your 2008 CBR600RR. Congrats! I know you'll love em. Just wish I could find some too. Been thinking of getting an older CBR600RR, probably like yours, 2008 or so. Not saying 600's are slow by any means, but light and fun is where it's at these days. Why else would factories be focused on the mid range these days, right? Although, to me nothing beats a V4 sound, but parallel twins come close. Music to my ears. LOL Keep on keeping on brother.

You said that its more fun with 600cc than with more powerful bike and I must say it's true. I had cbf600sa, cb650r before and now I've switched to 2022 cb500x. Only 50hp but inline 2 engine with instant torque just from leaving the clutch makes me more excited about motorcycling. Less fuel consumption, more comfortable, great sound even if it's 500cc, offroad capabilities opened my mind too. I've found that bike must be tried in real life by a rider, not by sponsored youtubers that can say only how bad it is. We moto guys forget to say what is good even with the worst bike. Cbr600rr was criticised in my country so much, because it's only 600cc. 1000cc guys now don't have money to ride or just are broken so much that they have not enough money to fix. 600cc sportbikes are the best sport bikes. Honda makes it extremely reliable and don't broke wallet that much like for example s1000rr. I watch You for long time and must say that You are real world moto guy, who really likes bikes 👍 i like it!

Hello there. I'm qualify my comments with many years with Bikes/ Motorbikes/ Motocycles...( whichever is your chosen vernacular ) both as rider, enthusiast and Mechanic/ Builder and Restorer. Not many go to such lengths to qualify their work as you did. Measuring the side chain width to determine and confirm correct side plate position is an absolute, but most don't do it; they then cannot understand why their bike feels strangely held back by a pinched chain link... Measuring the pin distortion is also correctly done. Full marks! The only thing i would've done that you didn't was to put a small pair of dots on the Gear linkage connector. That way you'll be sure to replace on the correct spline. I believe that this could be why your gear indicator reads incorrectly through misalignment of one spline in the shaft. Your bikes Revs are not the determining factor of gear nomenclature, rather leaver position. I applaud your work. Remember to go back after a hundred miles or so and check tension, alignment and torqued fasteners. Best regards, Eddie

Thank you. I appreciate your comment so much. My gear indicator is aftermarket and it is actually based off the revs. Because the -1 sprocket threw off the revs it caused the gear indicator to be incorrect. I’ve already recalibrated and it’s working correctly again :)

@Gnerko123

At a given rpm, wheel power is the same. Wheel torque is slightly higher, but wheel speed is decreased accordingly such that wheel power remains equal. At a given road speed in a given gear, yes wheel power can be higher due to higher engine rpm. But then again, you could also achieve this by downshifting.

The writing on that front renthal doesn't always go on the outside like people will tell you. I've heard someone say renthal says that too. If you put the larger spacer side on the outside on 2008 600/750s it will be aligned incorrectly and give you problems soon. you can use a digital calliper and see how many mm the oem sprocket sit from the case & then you put the sprocket on whatever side is closest. on my 750 putting the writing on the outside would've resulted in it being 1.50mm out of alignment. whereas writing in was within 1 10th of a mm.

So stock 2020 cbr 600rr rims bolt directly up to the 2008 gen motorcycle? Looking to get new rims for my 2010.

felt your pain the moments you tortured yourself to undo bolts to parts no longer held down by their mounting points, instead of breaking them loose first with the help of the other fixed fastenings

Anybody fast enough to say a 600 is slow knows well enough to not say that. Or they're the kind of person who should just mount a car tire on the rear since they'll never tip it in.

@@HeroRR Allentown PA sir. A few hours away from you. We have ALMOST the same mods. Almost… 😎 we both have the Arrow header. Except I went ECU tune and you went with the overpriced Lego block with Social studies maps 🙃. Not sure if yours is Dyno tuned yet. But mine isn’t yet either. I’m the CBR that was shocked that I got the MotoDynamics headlights before you. And mine have the turn signal blinkers which I think are VERY useful. Honestly I would like to put our bikes together to give viewers the best views of the best 600cc sport bike 😎 some people like Fruity Pebbles and others like Trix 🤷🏽‍♂️🙌🏽😂

Dude, 600s are beast. I may or may not even upgrade to a 1k. I have an 05 f4i now and I'll either get a r6 or zx6r. I can use more of the full power of the 600 vs a 1k. #600gang

Nice work Hero!! The new wheels look dope! Question though. Why not use ur impact to remove the spocket from the rear wheel? 😁 additionally, at 16:28 nice recovery brother! Cool and collective! 😎 Thanks for all the info

Why did you go with the 520 conversion vs the oem 525 chain and sprockets?
@HeroRR
@HeroRR 2 жыл бұрын
Wanted to try it. Apparently there’s no real downsides other than the chain will wear out slightly faster. Since I have 4 motorcycles sharing the mileage every year it’s ok for me to take less rotating mass over longevity. And for what it’s worth a lot of people say that the 520 lasts just as long.

Do you have the link to the steam cleaner?
@Jammin6796
@Jammin6796 2 жыл бұрын
you need to remove another link or two.. new chain is pretty close to the replace chain area.. center of axle should be well within the "new" area.. just fyi..

Wheelbase length is a tuning feature. Shorter is more agile but less stable, longer is more stable but changes direction slower. Just fyi..

I don't know, I just went with the OEM number of links for the 520. Maybe I should have added a link? Oh well i'm sure it will still last a long time.
@Jammin6796
@Jammin6796 2 жыл бұрын
@@HeroRR remove a link or two at most.. remember,,,, when you took off old chain it is old and was "stretched"... count links to verify if you still have old chain... you might have 1 maybe 2 extra on the new one... but either way the center of axle should be in the new zone..... lookint at your new one on the vid it seems its in the replace zone.... dont want to have to replace in 7k miles when you could get 15-20k+ miles out of it..

@@Jammin6796 That sticker is just a guide for dummies when to replace chain, as long as he keeps chain cleaned, lubed, and adjusted and he doesn’t run out of room in the swingarm, which he won’t. I’m literally a professional tech at a dealership, and also do track days 1-2 times a month. Just to put my words into context.

Why make your Speedo accurate? It will only be accurate once then as tyres wear, grow with speed and shrink with lean the speedo is off… you need your speedo to under read so you never get done for speeding while doing what you thought was the limit. It’s why it’s law for speedos to under read by 5-10%.

My favorite so far is Dunlop Q3+, but the ones that are on my bike now are pretty good since I didn't bother removing the tires off the new wheels and they were 2021 tires.. (sorry I forgot the brand).
