Bro your a godsend! Haha i replaced bulbs the other day and i was just changing my wheel bearing and caliper and went to pop the hood and it didnt work. I was perplexed. After finding your video i realized i did the same thing and took the ebrake cable out of the rail and took your advise and pop it open no problem! Thank you so much!

I followed your steps and fixed it. They must’ve unhooked the cable from the holder next to the battery.

Thanks for the vid. I'm trying to change out my 2009 lock cylinder and apparently the entire left side panels all need to come off because it looks like they are all interlocking in some way. So I needed a video just to help get this latch off. I originally just blindly tried a phillips but that didn't work, so I looked for vids on it. It would have been easier if they had just used a nylock nut and/or some thread lock. I never really like the various types of clips that manufactures use for their products as those tools are less handy for me and there's always something that seems to go wrong or be hard about it, but a nut + nut driver.....never a problem. Even a phillips can be stripped and that's not fun. I have managed to apparently break off 1 of the 4 pips and wasn't having any luck at all with the other 3. I was just about to give up for the night when I got lucky and got a grip on it with the needle nose. I have a bad back and knees so it's extra hard for me to work with stuff down low or tucked away. For anyone else, I recommend using ultra thin blade needle nose; The standard size is almost too thick. Probably the small palm sized plier tool kits would work better for this but I didn't have mine handy tonight. It may help to have another hand applying some moderate pressure with a screw driver to pull the handle out as you squeeze the latch together. Also get a bright light setup. Hopefully I can get this done tomorrow and then after that I have to have it towed to the shop for a new starter I guess. The cylinder kept allowing the starter to grind and I guess it wore the teeth off or something, because it still turns fully but won't turn the engine over.

Yes, a couple of weeks ago I had to remove my left headlamp assembly and I knew what I'd (not) done when I was doing my monthly first-Saturday fluids, belts, tires, etc. check. Your video helped save me some time by seeing exactly the process with the handle latch squeeze, etc. I appreciate your own efforts more than you can imagine.

On my 2011 Elantra I had to access the stuck cable from the wheelwell. Pulling the cable from inside didn't work, but good to try first. The hood latch itself is another story. It is completely boxed in with no access even from under the car or through the grille.

There is someone else on KZfaq (auto repair guys) who use a screwdriver sized hook to pull on the cable through the grill whilst another person is gently pushing down on the bonnet, seems much simpler than removing the trim

Mine has too much slack, is there a way to increase the tension?

I am stranded in a grocery store parking lot with the same make model, year, and even color with the same problem. I did everything in the video and pulled very hard on that cable where the release lever was but nothing happened..losing my mind that something so simple has given me such a headache. Any other ideas?

I do like your vedio, but it did not address the cable which was disconnected, you could not pull on the inside because as you had descried you forget to connect it.

hello. coming from 2022, you really helped me in in a pinch with my 2010 hyundai accent. it got into a previous accident then hit again in the same spot a year later. i tried to look and see if i could open the hood but to no avail until i saw your video! we tried everything to get it open before and didn't know why the pully wasn't working. The parts weren't exactly the same but i was able to follow the same guidelines. i was able to hank the damn wire and finally open it. checked and there was no damage internally. so again thank you so much!
