2008 Vauxhall Zafira B 1.9 diesel INTERMITTENT accelerator throttle pedal failure P1120 P1122

Customer phoned me up the night before telling me thay his 2008 Vauxhall Zafira B 1.9 Diesel wouldn't accelerate , no throttle pedal response at all.
He limped to the workshop just with the engine revs and When I arrived in the morning and checked the car , everything was absolutely fine the vehicle revved fine but the engine light was still on.
Scanning the vehicle the obvious codes related to the issue was P1120 Accelerator pedal position 1 and 2 signal incorrect ratio ( NOT PRESENT ) and P1122 Accelerator pedal position sensor 1 and 2 signal incorrect ratio ( NOT PRESENT ) and few other code within the transmission module.
I've seen this issue on a Vauxhall Astra before which ended up being corrosion within the ECU module but another common place for corrosion that can give the same symptoms is the under the bonnet fuse box.
I found a TSB using www.DDTSB.com which ended up being very helpful giving me the voltage for the accelerator pedal sensor 1 and 2 and also the fuse box pins .

I had the week of intermittent faults Wyatt and for some reason it was very hard to replicate , the cars must got scared to come to the garage and then behave themselves 😂 cheers pal 👍

My Zafira will randomly shut down while driving and then after an hour it will start again but run like crap. I can drive maybe 5km and it will stop. I don't have any diagnostic tools so I used the trick where you step on the brake and gas pedal and turn on the ignition. The car then spat out all the fault codes. I got P1120, P0335 and P0087. The 0335 is the crank sensor which I already changed. For the P1120 I tried changing the gas pedal and I also did the fuse box and ECU plug cleaning as you showed in this videos. The fuse box looked like new but my ECU had 3 or 4 really corroded pins. Like there was green crystals on the pins. I cleaned all that but it still won't run right. The P0087 is too little rail pressure so I'm thinking it's the high pressure pump. I'll try changing out just the pressure sensor in the pump as that is cheaper and quicker than doing the whole pump obviously. It wouldn't surprise me though as I've now got 350k km on my car. What kind of diagnostic tool do you use? I don't mind spending a bit more as I work on a ton of cars.

Boa Noite! Tenho esse mesmo problema, gostava só de saber é se o seu amigo/cliente voltou a ter esse problema intermitente novamente? É porque eu á quatro anos atras quando comprei o meu astra h 1.9 tive essa intermitência, limpei como voce limpou, as fichas e a caixa de fusiveis/relé e pelo menos uma vez por ano esse problema intermitente volta me a acontecer...começo a suspeitar da centralina de motor, a que fica por detrás da cava da roda que possa ter corrosão..

Helo thanks for the video. I did the same and i still have the problem, (service light and ESP turn on). i connected OBD it says cable abs front left wheel. do you have any idea about it. thank you so much.

It sounds like a good product Ivan @pinehollowautodiagnostics swears by it , but I don't think I can get it here in the Uk although I found plenty sellers on Amazon but I don't trust amazon half of the time with products like this plenty fake stuff being sold there 👍 cheers

Spot on there mate perfect analogy 😂 , intermittent faults is a pain I hate it, Lets see when this one comes back I thing another fuse box will be the permanent fix 👍 cheers

Hmmmm…bit of a sticky wicket an intermittency of this nature Igor. Maybe consider scoping the raw APP 1&2 Ref. O/P and ground as opposed to viewing the scan tool processed data should it reoccur. Hopefully yer good. Cheers Mate 👍

i have just fixed this problem after suffering 6 months ,the solution is cleaning inside the accelerator pedal, and it will be done.

Bem provável de problema com corrosão na ECU ou BCM.

Limpei à caixa de fusiveis... alguns contactos eletronicos n'a placa estavam com alguma corrosion. Limpei, méti tudo no sitio, e o pedal funciona.
