This is the reason I have had three Yamaha ventures, and only one GL 1800 Goldwing which I did not keep for long. You can actually service Venture without removing all that plastic. I used to be a motorcycle mechanic in my 20s at three different motorcycle shops..I don’t even know where the clutch is on the GL 1800 goldwing i bought.. you might think, what’s the big deal about the clutch sure the water pump or the alternator or the slave cylinder being hidden on a Goldwing as opposed to a venture where those things are right there in front of you. The difference is, the last time I checked a few years ago, labor in a motorcycle dealership service department was $125 an hour. to change just the air filter on a GL 1800 in a Honda dealership service department, is five hours labor. That’s over $600 just for the labor. I thought that was ridiculous, so I changed the air filter on my GL 1800 Goldwing myself as i planned.. I never have anyone work on any of my motorcycles let me, except for cylinder boring, and two stroke triple crankshaft rebuilding. I don’t have the tools for that..It actually took me oner 6 hours to change the air filter on my goldwing the 1st time..After doing the job myself, hey service department charging five or six hours labor to change the air filter on a Goldwing is not an unreasonable price / time. That thing is really buried, on a gold wing. on the Venture like in this video, the first time you go to change the two air filters ,it might take you 45 minutes if you’re a beginner. If you’re a pro in a shop, could probably do it in 10 minutes.. One bit of warning about K and N air filters on these ventures or anything. Look at my video about all the dirt that got past that air filter and coated the inside of my ductwork from the air filter to the plenum over the carburetors.. when I made the video, I thought it was leaky joints at all the different connections in the ductwork. But it wasn’t. I saw a video about damage to pistons on motorcycles that used K & N air filters. And after thinking about it and remembering where the dirt started inside the duck tubes of my venture, it started right at those filters. Use the standard paper filters.. Watch the air filter comparison test by a video maker with the website called, project farm. He compares different air filters including the oiled K and N air filter to regular standard filters. Those KNM filters in his test allowed more than 10 times the amount of particulates to go through then even the worst of the paper filters.. The whole thing about K and N air filters is, high air volume flow. The way you get high air volume through the filter is to have less restriction

Hey man, thanks for the vid. I'm considering a 2008 venture with only 8k miles..doing my homework first. Just wondering how you torqued those bottom three clutch cover bolts with the pipe on? I noticed you used an allen key to remove?

OK, any reason your customer did not go the barnett route, I have an 08 with slipping clutch under acceleration in 4th and 5th when overtaking.

Them blowers work great at the track. Clutches are cool in about 15 minutes.

Well after me purposely watching this video to see the complete disassembly of the clutch plates and inspection of them.I guess this wasn't THAT video. I thought this was a complete video on what all to do and inspect when replacing new clutch discs.

Wow... Clutch springs should've come with the clutches. Wonder if the oem clutches would've come with springs?
