Imo, the rivalry between Peugeot/Audi trying to make a diesel Le Mans winner is the greatest story in Le Mans history.

Audi defeated themselfes that year. They took measurements of their fastest car from an uncalibrated measuring platform. The setup based on this completely wrong set of measurements ended up on all vehicles making them nearly undrivable.

They're going slowly on purpose. The last lap at Le Mans is usually run slowly (leading cars usualy have a healthy lead). That's mostly done to preserve the car (why take risks when you don't have to?) and also to milk the moment a bit

The 3rd overall car wasn't even the third Peugeot but an Audi. They were something like 3-4 laps difference between those cars
