My 2009 Acura RDX started having problems a few weeks ago with not distributing hot air from the driver side. The passenger side is working fine. Luckily in my situation it was a common issue with the air mix motor / actuator on the driver side. The cheapest fix was for me to remove the actuator from the driver side and zip tie the heat flap so that it’s permanently on the highest setting. Problem solved. Now my sweet rdx has lost the following features: Bluetooth, AC, and climate control on the driver side. Haha. Let’s see how long this little baby can go!

I have an 08 Acura rdx, this was the only video I could find that helped me, I just unplugged it, and then plugged it back and and presto, works great now

Same.. I went to a mechanic they quoted me $350 for actuator replacement. I was looking online to purchase one but glad I ran across this video first. I simply unplugged it and plugged it back in.. Now I have heat for the winter.

I had this issue today.. I put a screwdriver under that white flap and forced it up until it broke off of the actuator and now it works great off the air pressure alone moving the flap.

Oh my goodness I can’t thank you enough! I also have a 2009 Acura RDX and was having this issue since thanksgiving. My fix was to recirculate the air so I could hopefully get some warm air from the passenger side to the drivers side. I was dreading having to take it in to a mechanic but I watched this video, found my actuator and saw it was just unplugged. I plugged it back in and now it’s warm again. Thank you for showing me where it is!

Dude. Thank you so, so much for sharing this. You just solved my exact same problem in two minutes. I pushed on the side of the actuator, and it moved to heat on my side… must’ve been stuck. Much love from me and the drivers side… I’ve got heat now!! 😊🤙💕

Thank you for all the advice BUT... Not sure if this is what fixed my heat issue but i checked the fuses just by jiggling them around and removed some leaves from this possessed tree that fell in front between the windshield and engine hood. Alakazam fixed!

Thank you so much for the info, nice video too straight to the point. I used to have this same issue on my 94 máxima, where I would have to manually operate the actuator between heat and a/c lol.

I wonder how long this 2009 RDX will last me. I have to see if my father in law will help me with a sway bar end link this summer. The Maxima's were dope looking cars back in the day. What are you driving now?

@@mindfulparadigm I loved my maxima. The ac on my RDX turned out to be just the cable, that somehow came off, but after I put it back on, the ac and heater on driver’s side was working like new once again. IMO your RDX should last you a long time, as long as you stay on top of oil changes along with other maintenance. Unfortunately I’m going to need to replace the camshaft on mine @ 165k miles, because the previous owner was probably not doing oil changes in the right intervals, and or not using the good stuff.

haha wishing you well. My guess is that I spilled too many morning coffee's driving to work. The bluetooth module is right below the cup holder. I am not sure but that is my guess. I also removed the driver side air mix motor/actuator a few weeks ago so i have no climate control on the driver side but as long as the heat works I am golden!

Great vid! It was 60F today and I decided to test the heater since it got down to -30F last winter and I didn't want to end up with my dick in a vice and sure enough, cozy passenger but fuck me, right? So I read all the comments and gave everything a tug and jiggle, hit the connector with electronic contact cleaner, WD-40 on the actuator, removed a few leaves from where the windshield meets the hood, and I'm golden! Bought'r with 38,000 miles at 140,000 now, put a new starter on two years ago ($400 installed), replaced passenger-side tie-rod assembly last year after hitting a snow-filled pothole from hell ($700 installed with two new front tires $400 - alignment $125 - so $175. Not bad! This is my personal mechanic who's Acura certified and a good man to know. Other than that I do my own brakes at about $80 per axle and the dealer included lifetime oil changes with Mobil 1 and I haven't missed a single one. Same belt, plugs, factory anti-freeze... And still hauls all my shit when I want to go camping and hauls ass when I want to get where I'm going! i.imgur.com/4XsGpzP.png i.imgur.com/ZfzUUGe.jpg

Badger Monkey! Yo, sorry for the late reply. I had a kid which is amazing news but i've been so busy. I loved your comment and pictures. I got bad news. Not about the baby. The other baby...the RDX. The left assembly strut is pooched, both ball joints in front end pooched. I am a registered nurse but i think i might be determined to fix my baby (the RDX) this winter. I've done a ball joint once but never a strut assembly. You think i should pimp my ride?

“F*ck that I ain’t replacing it” This made me LOL literally. I am currently having this issue on my ‘07 RDX except it is blowing hot and I need it to blow cold now. Do you happen to have a part number? I will replace mine

Well your comment made me smile. I called my local Acura Dealer for you in Toronto. They quoted me $105.78CAD for the drivers side air mix motor/actuator. For an 07' Acura RDX the part number is 79160STKA41. I actually wonder if you could take out the air mix motor and then use a zip tie to anchor it in the 'cold' position. It's my half polish side coming out. Cheap. lol. Hope you're well wherever you are and have a stellar day!
