Exactly the info we need. I like to give back some info aswell. Here in the UK I see alot of those engines and the sealing rings on the end of the camshaft wear out (They create the oil gallery for the oil to flow into the VVT pulley). This creates an internal oil leak and also causes those fault codes to be logged. In extreme cases the oil pressure light will be on. The way to check if this is the case is by pulling the vanos solenoids and if there is metallic swarf in the solenoid filters then the camshaft oil sealing rings are knackered. It is that common it should be part of your diagnostic procedure. Hope this info will help you out one day.

Great day at New Level Auto,I love it! Keep’em coming! 😁 It’s amazing how many tests you can run on these cars right from the driver’s seat if you have the proper tool! I’ve ran that same test using another tool and it wasn’t changing anything : that was either the tool’s fault or it was happening because that engine was indeed out of time. 👍

Those BMW keys have two varieties. The proximity (Comfort Access) keys have a replaceable CR2032 battery and don't need to be inserted. The non comfort access keys do have to be inserted but also have a rechargable battery and cannot be easily opened. Both have the blade key that comes out.

I would like to add that you should check the small o-ring on the filter cap, some cheap filter kits don't come with that o-ring and they need to be changed otherwise there is nothing keeping the oil up in the housing.

Oil volume/pressure loss through cam bearing ledge on older ones. It can be intermittent. Something to pay attention too if you still have the faults after all this has been addressed.
