The Part 1 showed 16 modules, now you have 17, along with SOME other scanners they do not show dead modules so when you ask SO for a Topology map be sure to ask for the correct type mate, cheers. Thanks for the case study. 👍

Thanks for watching but I didn't need to program the SRS module only set it up in the BCM which almost any scan tool could do.

Phil, I noticed that the seat belt chime (and icon on the cluster) was not showing on the instrument panel before you fixed the Battery Power pin on the SDM connector. Do you know why/how these are related? I'm having an intermittent "Service Air Bag" light and no seat belt/icon on my 2010 Silverado. How would you troubleshoot this?
@PhillipBailey11 ай бұрын
Well you're very observant. I would imagine the instrument cluster receives data over the serial data or can bus from the air bag module so if it's offline the indicator in the cluster may not work. The chime you hear is actually coming from the radio speaker usually on driver front and the radio is on the network. If an aftermarket radio is installed they usually add another module to return the function of the seat belt, key in ignition and head lights left on warning. I'd start with a network scan of all controllers retrieving codes and then see if there is the ability to bidirectional control the light in the cluster and the chime function. You will need a full function scanner to do this obviously. Look at data and controls in Air Bag, BCM, Cluster, Radio. Good luck.

I have a B0091 code for front air bag crash sensor on my 2008 Chevy 3500hd, replaced crash sensor with multiple different ones, still have the light on dash. I was looking to trouble shoot wiring to crash sensor but there is very little info on how to. I lifted carpet to unplug sdm which is very very hard to get to, and there seems to be some corrosion build up on sdm. Not sure if that code tho would have anything to do with it

Best to remove the seat and lift the carpet to inspect the module. To test the wires to the sensor from the module connector use an ohm meter to check continuity of each wire, shorts between wires and shorts to ground

Is that an actual recall or service bulletin?
@PhillipBailey Жыл бұрын
It is a recall not just a TSB but if it was done in 2009 there is no further action from GM.

Tests/Procedures: 1. Disconnect the harness connector at the inflatable restraint I/P module disable switch. 2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal B and ground. 3. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance, if the circuit tests normal continue. 4. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the I/P module disable switch signal circuit terminals E and A and B+. 5. If all circuits test normal, replace the inflatable restraint I/P module disable switch.
