A historic winter storm took place from January 26-28, 2009 producing crippling ice, heavy snow and leaving millions in the dark.

This is why now anytime the meteorologist says "freezing rain" or "ice," we all go into a PTSD flashback. Not kidding. "fortunate son" starts playing and we all space out. We didn't lose power in metropolis until day 2

I remembered this Storm, it was very bad in Harrodsburg Ky. I would say about everyone in my town had no Power. I had no Power for at least a week. Trees and Power Lines were down left and right. It was just a huge mess.

I also have a little memory of this storm. I remember getting 5-6 inches of snow and significant ice. School was closed for the day Jan 28, 2009.

I was 10 years old then. No school, a winter wonderland, a long hill to sled down. It was paradise then. I climbed every bent over tree I could.

I was 7 years old at the time. I had no school Jan 28, 2009. I received 5-6 inches of snow and a lot of freezing rain.

I live in Paducah ky, i lived through it, 2 inches of ice everywhere, no power for weeks, i was eerie, quiet, and just an occasional transformer would blow, and trees falling, sounding like glass, it was awesome We knew it was gonna be bad for us because JIM CANTORE FROM THE WEATHER CHANNEL came to our river front to report

@@metalrockstarizer89 wasn’t bad at all, but we got like 4inches of sleet. Today was a nice day out.

I live north of Philadelphia, PA. I saw 5-6 inches of snow with a lot of ice accumulation. Thankfully, I did not lose power. School was closed however Jan 28, 2009.

I live in Berea KY and this was honestly the he worst winter storm I can remember. Our power went out that afternoon and stayed out for a good chunk of the week, had to drive to mount Vernon to find kerosene for our heater, the roads were so bad a normally 20 minute drive took about a hour. That kerosene heater we had was a game changer tho. We even cooked on that thing!

I live in Kentucky. In a small town midway between Indiana and Tennessee. We were without power for 3 weeks. Our roof was destroyed by a tree and we lost so much to water damage. I was a contractor for the power company and I pretty much staid at work for weeks. By far the worst winter storm I've ever experienced. We moved to another town and it got hit by a tornado, Dawson Springs. Ripped our roof off and busted our windows and messed up the car we hadn't had a year. I just gave up trying to have anything.

@@jonathanschlack7210 yea you missed the punch we got in Paducah, it was absolutely beautiful but devastating to witness. But as a kid, me and my cousins enjoyed the school days missed which was over a week

I was a junior in high school and I was out of school for a week and out of power for several days. Around my house had a plot for a zombie snow horror movie. As it was cold not many around and was dead silent. Normally u hear cars and stuff u didn’t hear anything. U hear a tree branch fall that’s it. Even the fast food places near my house was closed for several Days
