That is an outstanding looking aircraft! I really do like those Piper Malibu/matrix/Maroge aircraft. I think I’ve read those. The only knock on them is that they’re useful load is a little anemic. But I wouldn’t know, especially since I’m tooling around in a little 152! Anyway, thanks for the video!

nice plane,great presentation as always--love your catalina shots--my aunt/uncle owned a hotel on catalina back in 50ties/60ties--dad would fly us out of compton, sometimes making two trips to get everyone!-the road down is harsh--it was actually better just to take the big white steamship,more fun for us kids-we had full access around that big ship...we would love to have a cabin like your big piper,nice nice

The Piper 46 series are nice planes...flew nice and very capable...my issue was no forward door(doors) for the pilots...after years of Cessnas kind of felt claustrophobic

If you don’t need/want a pressurized cabin, the expense of maintaining it, etc…. But the look with some cost savings…

Given the slow gear retraction and how fast this thing can sink with engine out I might leave gear down a little longer.

I really enjoy the videos and would be interested to hear YOUR path to where you are. Flying is precise with little room for errors so I have to call you out on saying RPMs with the S. For me it's like an English teacher (or me) hearing a double negative. "I don't have no sunglasses". RPM = Revolutions per Minute. The plural is built in. You're saying is literally Revolutions per Minutes, which isn't an accepted term for units of rotation. I teach mechanical engineering at a university called "The Basketball Capital of the World". Just as in flying, in engineering, we need to be precise and speak the same language. Fly on Rich!!

I have been trying to correct that - what about a twin with two RPM needles, and I’m referring to two engines with matched RPM of 1900? Is it still 1900 RPM? Is a piston engine also a motor? Is an electric motor also an engine?

I'd still say my engines are running at 1,900 rpm. Either both are running the same or one is runnning at 1,850 rpm and then other at 1,900. I'm afraid we opened a Pandora's box on the motor/engine terms. I think it depends on your industry, local customs. If you work around here in the aerospace industry we say Pratt makes jet engines not motors. Electric Boats nuclear subs are powered by electric motors. The auto industry uses motors and engines interchangeably without any reason I can see. If you're up there in the wild blue yonder call it what you want, just hope it keeps running!! Cheers.

A question :-) In Germany you need a type rating for some aircraft you flown. Is it similar in the USA? I couldn't just fly a Citation M2 without a rating here. Your videos are great 😊

I've always liked the Matrix, but still think having the pressurization of the Malibu/Mirage is nice, although obviously creates more expense to run. $560K? Wow, the prices just keep going up. It wasn't too long ago where you could find a Meridian for that price.

Really no reason for the Matrix. Might as well just get a Saratoga if you don't need pressurization. Otherwise, get a Mirage/M350 and have it all.
