Hi Kevin, just wanted to thank yu for your videos, thanks to your detailed instructions i was able to perform a clutch replacement on my neigbours caddy 2013 1.6 tdi 5 speed manual.During this it was -10 but if you work and sweat a little bit you dont feel it.I have greate respect for you doing this in those envoirements, i needed 10hrs for this clutch , nomally as a full time job i would be able to do a swap every second or third day to regain power levels. I wish you the best for the future.

Just done dual mass flywheel and clutch on 07 passat 1.9 with 215000 miles on it. This video was priceless. Saved me £500 labour. Took my time and with the other jobs, slave cylinder, cv boot, ball joint, anti roll drop links and engine oil change it took the day. Brilliant. Keep up the great videos. Efforts greatly appreciated. By the way, You made the gearbox look much lighter than I did!

This mechanic clearly works-out judging by his strong athletic and physical appearance which would certainly be a great advantage when undertaking this element of work as it looks very labour intensive and certainly not for the faint hearted or physically challenged but I like others am going to give it a go after analysing this very informative tutorial despite no commentary which some KZfaq up-loaders prefer to work in silence and may I say a very big thank you to the 'masked mechanic' for this great instructional and informative video, but he makes it look so easy and I am under no illusions the job will go as this smooth for me! And once more thank you again sir for taking the time and trouble to pass on your mechanical skills/knowledge to the world 👍

Thank you from Germany for this great video. I did change the clutch incl. dual mass fly wheel following this video. Took me a „little“ bit longer than 53 minutes, but it worked out. Two remarks: for a self-made change it might be easier to change the clutch together with the dual mass fly wheel pre-mounted, for example from Sachs. Than you don’t have to use the centering tool. And the second one at 34:15 you first mount the bracket for the tube to the slave cylinder and than at 36:10 the holder for the gear shift. I think the other way around is better, as you cannot reach easily the back-end screw due to the bracket of the tube for slave cylinder in front of it. But again thank you from the other side of the Channel. This video saved me a couple of euros.

Great job Pal, ive just changed the driver's side drive Shaft on my car, same engine and gearbox i think? BXE. total nightmare, hahaha. You have some cool tools there but it's not easy still i know, being under the car on your back like that. I left putting the output flange seal's on and just topped the gear box up with tranny fluid. Ah well she'll keep fighting me along the way but won't beat me completely. Haha.

Great stuff Kevin thanks for sharing 👍👍👍 That gear selector you always remove @ 17:09 in the video even though it’s splined I presume it only goes back one way?? Sometimes you have to shock it with long half inch drive extension when the 13 nut is removed…. Would like to see a close up shot of it if you think of it the next time you do one of those clutch’s, many thanks

At minut 7 ,why do you remove that part from The gearbox,you can't do it whit it on The gearbox? I ask beacause i need to do The same operațiun.
@WMCS Жыл бұрын
This flange will anchor itself behind the flywheel. And that’s the last thing you need with the gearbox hanging.
@chrisc94062 жыл бұрын
Why drain the gearbox oil and why remove a driveshaft flange? Just curious that's all.
@WMCS2 жыл бұрын
Chris I drain the oil because I need to remove the flange. Leaving the flange in situ becomes a bit of a problem pulling the gearbox out. It always seems to anchor itself at the back of the flywheel. Now it will come out but with a lot of faffing about.
