The Prius featured in this video is a 2011. This procedure should be the same for any Prius from 2010-2015. Toyota recommends every 30K miles.
tools needed:
10MM hex bit: amzn.to/42Pspha
3/8" ratchet & extension
Quinn 3/8" Drive Torque Wrench: www.harborfrei...
Hand pump: amzn.to/3XDmUi4
Fill plug: 10mm hex, 29 ft-lbs (39Nm)
Drain plug: 10mm hex, 29 ft-lbs (39Nm)
Replacement crush washers for both plugs: amzn.to/49H3ZIU
1 gallon of Valvoline MaxLife ATF: amzn.to/3vL6isv

Great informative video, I like how you covered the whole Toyota ws vs valvoline max life debate. In my eyes as long as the fluid says it works then it good to go.

Thanks! Yeah, there are a ton of people with opinions on this and most of them have no, or very little experience. At the end of the day you should run whatever you feel comfortable with. I find it pretty funny though when someone says I’m going to rune the transmission if I run Valvoline Maxlife. Thanks for watching!

Toyota said my 2008 Pris never needs transmission fluid changed. It is locked. My transmission is slipping. The engine ROMs are too high before it shifts and either during the last oil change they did not fill the engine oil or forgot to put it in.1. Does my transmission fluid need to be changed despite Toyota s recommendations 2. Could the engine overreving hurt the transmission

I would absolutely recommend changing transmission fluid. Hopefully not changing it hasn’t already caused damage. The engine reconfigured high might actually be because of a transmission issue. I would definitely get it looked at before putting a lot more miles on it.

@@bennieaust thank you. Seems Toyota built in failure INSISTING it doesn’t need to be changed. Is it possible the lack of engine oil could damage transmission?

@@dancindebs1, yes if Toyota is insisting no maintenance then it will eventually fail. Low engine oil will not damage the transmission but it will damage an engine in a HURRY. :(

@@bennieaust I have an appointment to have it doneJuly 14 It’s the next available appt. Will driving hurt it now. Shoukd I push for a sooner date. I am taking it to the best place in my area.
