2010 Honda Civic | P0303 Misfire | Bad Coil Diagnosis & Replacement

Welcome back to the channel
In this weeks video I show you how to replace a bad coil on a 2010 Honda Civic 1.8 L NA gasoline motor with a automatic transmission. I also show you what to look for how to figure out whether you have a bad coil and what other things might be a potential issue causing you a misfire. This particular car had a P0303 code which of course indicates a misfire on cylinder three. Which we quickly diagnosed as a bad coil. I also give you the spark plug gap as well as the torque specs needed to complete the job. Found you through your Fiat timing belt video. But I watch all your videos because I love the commentary. I also watch to learn how to generally do certain repairs since cars are pretty similar to each other. Appreciate the torque specs and actually being concerned for the customers not just macho perfectly calibrated arm bs etc etc. Hopefully it shows potential customers that you go out of your way to do it right and extra steps to protect their vehicles vs just slap it together with the cheapest part to get the most hours with least effort. I would genuinely be sad if you stopped making videos, but I understand you have a family it sounds like.

My issue is the coils keep failing. New ones last a day or so and then fail. Can anyone help?

How is it that they're failing? Are you getting a good quality coil? Have you replaced the spark plugs? I would recommend also getting a wiring diagram industry you're getting a good signal as well as the proper voltage at the coils.

Are there any other symptoms other than a misfire? Is there a check engine light? Is it misfiring on one cylinder or randomly or multiple cylinders? Is it misfiring at idle or while driving or at High rpm? Is it misfiring under load or no load? Did you replace these items in order to stop them as fire? I would check the basics. Make sure you check the plug gap to ensure that the plugs are not out of spec. Also verify that your coils are good by switching them with known good ones. Make sure that the wiring to the coil is in good condition. I hope this helps. If you answer some of those questions it'll help with me narrowing down what it might be. Good luck my friend
