I dont believe it being an S model really affects it, the layout should all be the same. This is a simple upgrade for overall efficiency.

Does it really increase the volume of the turbo and blow off? Ir was something else installed with it? And is there a kit out there that is legal for the stupid state of California? I own a 2013 Cooper S and want to really hear the turbo. Not obnoxious but definitely noticeable. I also want to hear the Blow Off easily.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my 2012 S, wondering if you removed the hood scoop grill cover or if you ever experience problems in heavy rain???

James Abramson We only test these on stock vehicles, so we do not have that information.

I had this installed in my '12 S. I took out the factory scoop grill, and added one that is functional. I think I got the grill from WayMotorWorks.

@@robertesb20rs yes, if its a hardtop r56, it will. but youre better off buying the silicon tubing for $40 from your local car shop and then just putting a k&n air filter on. for only like $100 total, probs $70 total in USD. i have the same car and i sold the oem air intake for more than what is spent on all the tubes and filter.

Hmmm, Turbo’s run more efficiently with an inflow of cold air, wouldn’t this setup just suck in hot air from the engine compartment.

For application, the included heat shield allows the filter to be isolated from engine heat.

You are correct the only true cold air system is the factory air box. These so called cold air systems are not what their names imply. And the heat shield that it comes with does not shield the filter from all of the engine heat especially when idling it will heat soak like crazy. I had a system in the past by AEM on a WRX that routed the filter down into the finder well where it did get cooler air unlike to ones that are open in the engine compartment like this one.

Kept the factory air box and dropped in a K&N filter. Filter has more flow than stock and you keep for factory cold air box. There is another design that utilize the factory hood scoop to rout the air through a duct on top of the filter but I do not remember the manufacturer for that one.

Robert Daone Robert Daone ? The mini’s filter is next to the engine exhaust pipes & heat the incoming air. This system takes air from colder airflow for “cold air” intake. AEM’s stuff on the mini actually exclusively routes outside air from the hood swoop through the intake, not collecting any air from under the hood lol
