Hi, I just put a trans in this car and it started throwing a knock Sensor Code. The vehicle is a 2011 Buick Regal CXL 2.4l with an Ecotec motor. The code it gives is a P0325 knock sensor circuit. Today we prove the value of a visual inspection and tugging lightly on a connector. I have no idea how long it's been like this. I never touched the kick sensor and the code wasn't present when it came in.

Where is the knock sensor located & is it one or two on 2011 2.4 regal

Nice repair Rob, you have alot more patience than me, I usually just upgrade these to a new pigtail from ACDELCO, they are much more stout than the original ones; which seem to have issues with pin fitment down the road. In either case, it's always cool to see how it can be repaired without connector pigtail replacement 😉👍

What does the knock sensor do or what's it for??

It detects engine knock, detonation, or pinging. It is when combustion happens at the wrong time and can cause damage to the motor because the pressure increases a lot in the cylinder. Gasoline engines that have a lot of detonation will sound like a diesel. When the sensor picks up engine knock the ecu will change the timing, usually retarding it to try to protect the motor. This can be cause by bad fuel, carbon build up or some other issue.

I am battling P0325 on a 2012 Sonic 1.4 turbo is there anyway to tell by the code if it is actually sensing a knock or if it is a wiring issue knock sensor and pigtail have been replaces as have been the spark plugs. Engine sounds to be running fine. Also any websites that would tell me the pin location at the pcm to check continuity. Thanks if you can provide any help love your videos.

Codes are just a starting point. They only give direction. There is no way to know without testing.
