4wd is engaging and disengaging by it's self. What's wrong?

Eso and Bas light comes on when changing into Low Range, awd works dime though, is ir normal

Got grinding sometimes and it started acting up just had Dodge tell me the Transfer case motor was shorted and they had to put in a new Acurator sensor. Still isn't fixed.

i open one of them and found out all the gears in it got chewed off because of the soft cheap metal on the spline inside it. so that may be the grinding you hear because i heard that too.

I have a 2009 with 160k doing the same thing. Searching, grinding and clanking. Did you figure out a solution? Thanks

Have the same problem, had to unplug actuator while in 2wd. It's either the module or the actuator......dont know which yet. The actuator is an electronic gear driven selector- over a good old fashioned mechanical 4/2 wd transfer case.

Did you ever figure it out? Mine won’t go into 4wd at all and the light keeps blinking. Eventually the service 4wd light comes on. Starting to put a lot of de-icer on the roads here so I’m hoping cleaning the connections underneath will fix it

My 2008 dodge ram does this and kicks into 4-wheel drive all on its own. Whether going 70 down the highway or just turning on in my drive way. Found no solutions.

Kandi Isbell you ever find a fix? My 08 does the same. Found a few things about the TIPM possibly being the problem but heard that wasn’t the case for everyone..

I have 2007 doing the same that yours is kicking in and out on it's own. Did you ever find out why.

Never found the cause. Replaced servo, a mother board, knob on dash and actuator. Nothing fixed it. So we unplug servo in spring and summer and replug in for winter. Had at many highend mechanics shops and nothing. Had codes ran. Came up with codes that they didn't know. Call dodge Corp and mopar. They have never heard or have any complaints. So can't afford new truck so stuck with it.

Also alarms go off anytime. Has issues. Was toldnall in harness wiring and needed replaced. Ya cant aford that either. So 1 day it will be burn baby burn. Show me the milk money.

Just had same problem on my 2011 Ram 3500, turned out to be a bad transfer case shift motor.

just wasting your time ,the actuater is crewed mine did the same and when i replace the actuater run fine until the chinese or mexican built one did it again. and go to a doctor with those nail man. on offence.
