I'm on my 5th ranger. My first new truck I bought in 2002, a plain basic Ranger, 2.3, manual transmission, $13,000 brand new. I thoroughly abused it for 9 years and 325,000 plus miles. For half of those miles it had a blown head gasket. My current Ranger is a 2011, bought new in 2012, 4.0 V6, manual trans, 4x4, extended cab. Over 200,000 miles now. Had the thermostat issue fixed. Had to replace a couple of wheel bearings from mud bogging. My only issue is finding good quality clutch components.

I'd have paid cash for it too. Somebody got lucky. Dang! Wife really wants one and I just got my dream truck (F-250 KR 4x4 PSD). She had a 1995 Ranger XLT, 3.0 V6, 2WD auto, extended cab. Ran fine (312,000mi) until some guy started rolling coal with his pickup and his 700cc quad fell out (not secured), came across the road, hit the thing, and bent the frame-rail. I had a 1995 Ranger XLT, 2.3 Lima, 2WD 5-speed, extended cab. I had over 363,000mi on it, then some old guy in a Caddy merged into it where the rear wheel was. I rolled twice and walk out without so much as a scratch. We miss our Rangers, and no, we do not call the new ones Rangers. They're too big, but that's our opinion. Also, too electronic and no manual option.

Nice little truck, clean as a pin. Looks like the previous owner just decided he wanted some creature comforts. Only thing I would do to that truck, is have a spray liner put in the bed, fix the rust under the doors and under the truck, and maybe put some LED bulbs in the headlights. Other than that, just drive it. I’m just amazed that all the plastic and trim inside was intact. Must have had a nice cozy garage to spend its life in. Love seeing older vehicles like this that someone obviously loved and took care of, thanks for showing it to us. Hope it finds a good home with someone who appreciates it as much as the original owner.

I have a 2011, with 115,000 miles. Both of the Ford Emblems are original, and only peeling on the edge of the chrome, around the blue. I just changed them out this week. From what I’ve found online, those emblems have some kind of clear wrap around them, and once they start peeling, they’re toast. These things were abused like you would not believe, people were taking their frustrations with the company out on the trucks 😂😂 literally trying to break something Anyway my designated one was a peach, had that same bench seat, that's why I liked it and the ac actually worked. Only problem was the poor girl was only running on three cylinders, not exactly a powerhouse on four you know and get a bunch of stuff in the back you had to plan ahead sometimes. Fuelly reports 15mpg for full size 2011 f150 and 19mpg for the ranger. They get better gas mileage, easier to live with around town, or in the garage or driveway. @@FordBossMe lol, true no shitter for ya. My first running car I bought 92 toy pickup 22re with 5 speed. Had it for years and used to try to kill it, eventually did but at one point compression was 150,30,30,150 (think 175 for 22re is normal). Added over a gallon of water a day courtesy of that head gasket (runs just fine if no antifreeze added btw) Bought me a new used 06 gmc canyon 64k miles 200 pony vortec 4 cylinder with 5 speed. Friend told me my new truck was slower than the jalopy. No way, 200 hp vs 110 back in 92, now low on compression with 2 dead holes and about 350k and at least 4 wrecks. Found a road, marked a quarter mile, my jalopy had me by over a city block. Also got about 31 mpg doing 70, I could fix it as a know nothing teenager, and was far more reliable (btwn me and friend, 2.5 years running those earlier compression numbers) than that canyon. Owned the canyon for 12 months, 3 spent at the dealer for repairs. Threw a new ebay Chinese head on the Toyota I had given to a friend and he gave it back and upgraded back to the jalopy. Sold the gmc for the bank note at a consignment dealer, had an early pay off fee idk about. Rushed down there with 2k and told him to get my name off that pos. Now my 2013 silverado with 75k has me asking why I sold my 87 4runner with I would imagine closer to 400k (rebuilt twice myself, buy or make a snorkel if crossing rivers) instead of dropping a stop sign down and riveting it to what remained of the original floorboard lol nothing beats a beater offroad with locked axles and the attitude mud will hide the dents.

The 4.0 OHV engines are extremely reliable and easy to repair. THey stopped making them in 2000. They weren't really powerful (quite torquey though) and probably not very pollution friendly. These rangers have the same front suspension (part interchange) and very similar interior trim to a 95-01 Explorer.
