How to remove the mirror, mirror caps and turn signal repeater LED strip on a first generation Kia Forte hatchback (2011-2013). This same procedure should work for most Hyundai/Kia cars and many other modern vehicles.
Part numbers for the LED Strips are:
Driver Side (LH) 87614-1M005
Passenger Side (RH) 87624-1M005

I bought a 2018 Kia optima theft recovery from the auction and somebody must’ve stole the mirrors while it was sitting at the impound. The video kept me from buying the entire mirror save me some money Thanks. I like the SS in the garage.

Thank you for this! 🙂 I replaced the glass in the passenger side mirror of my 2016 Forte sedan. I used the same tool you did from the outside, and had little success, but I looked at the replacement, and for that generation of Forte, there is a slot on the bottom of the ring of snaps that was able to get the tool into and work it in and then from side to side until the glass came loose..

This video just saved me SO much money, as I wasn't sure if the outer mirror caps were removable or not, and mine are needing refinished! Will be spray-bombing them myself, or finding some custom/salvage replacements, rather than paying over $300+ to the body shop!

thx for making this video, it was very helpful and gave me the confidence to proceed prying the cap. That last upper inner retainer clip was so stubborn I thot it may have a screw holding it in from inside but not so.

I gotta replace the side repeater LED on a 2015 Carnival (Sedona) and was unsure of pulling the mirror. So I'll watch this and hopefully it will help me :-)

Yay, i popped the mirror glass off ok using a large screwdriver and twisting it. Pushing the mirror back on again afterwards was a little harder, but it went back in eventually. Thanks for the great video!

I'd like to see him try an get the mirror and cover off an 05 Sedona and put it back. They are very complicated and TIGHT! They just don't snap on. U need a great deal of pressure to snap it back on .....

Hi friend. Thanks for this video. My Kia Forte 2013/ right side mirror, stop to work properly just yesterday. However i can hear a kind of noise like a little electric engine on. Even when I turned my car off. So to avoid to discharge the battery, I took of the relay inside of fuse box. So now I’m looking your video to see if I could fix or replace it. Please let me know if in order to reach the little engine for the mirror is located in the same part? Thank you 🙏🏼

It is. If you remove the mirrors that round circle is the mechanism with the motor that adjusts the mirror. So pull the glass off and you should have access to the screws holding the motor in the housing.

I'm curious about the two different part numbers. Wouldn't the left LED light work on the right? Are they not symmetrical?

No, there aren’t symmetrical. Just like the colored caps that cover the mirrors, there are specific left and right LEDs.

You will probably have to go to a dealership for one or an auto salvage yard for a used one.

Both my mirrors stopped working at the same time. I’m guessing it’s something with the control on the door but I hope I don’t have to replace both mirrors 🤔

joce If both stopped working, first check the fuses for the power mirrors. Then check the switch itself on the drivers door panel.

Dodong DIY and More It was just an average trim removal tool kit found on Amazon. This specific set was the brand Tresalto and cost about $8

Toomu Chsauce At the 0:36 mark you will see how to do that. Basically you need to get a thin tool (preferably a plastic trim removal tool but a screwdriver will work if you’re careful) and stick it inbetween the glass and the round plastic mount. At the 0:55 mark you will see the clips arranged in a circle on the back of the glass and the round mount inside the mirror housing. Stick the tool inbetween the two and twist to pop the glass off the mount. Hope that helps.
