I was looking at Corollas and Civics before I bought mine. My aunt and uncle had a 2011 Corolla for a little while (uncle's daughter's old car) and my grandmother borrowed it for a few weeks. I rode in that car quite a bit and it was pretty nice. Driver's ed car was a 2015 Civic and I liked that as well but the CVT annoyed me. My dad came across the car I have now and sent me the link to the listing. The following weekend, we both drove it, and bought it that day. It has been almost three months now and I have driven almost 4,000 miles with no major issues. The only ones being my clutch pedal squeaking and my key fob acting a little strange. Much cheaper than a Toyota or Honda and way more fun to drive!

WE BOUGHT A 2012 MAZDA 3 SKYACTIVE IN 2011 AND IT LASTED A LONG TIME AND WE NEVER HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVER. THE OIL LIGHT IS THE ONLT LIGHT THAT CAME ON. WE SOLD IT IN JULY OF 2019. THEN WE GOT A 2020 KIA OPTIMA SX. I MISS MY MAZDA :(

I had this car for 16k miles. My only gripe was the terrible driver door handle. It was simply way too big and did not allow me to rest my arm. It gelt like it intruded into my space.

My 2011 has 176k miles and is built like a rock. With regular oil changes and brake pads/rotors only changed once, only actual parts that needed to get replaced was the O2 sensor, shocks, and a neutral safety switch. Very easy stuff, and a very reliable car.

I'm gonna be buying my first car soon, and I'm most interested in the Either this generation of mazda 3, or a 2006-2011 Honda civic. You happen to have test drives on both lol, thanks for the videos. Other than the noise on the Mazda, what were your thoughts on both of them? Mazda 3s seem to be very reliable, around the same as civics in fact, and yet a civic from the same year with the same mileage will be 1 or 2 thousand more than the a Mazda 3. As such, I'm struggling to justify a civic. But there's something about those civics that I really love. And I grew up being driven around in a 2012 Mazda 5 which made all the same noises and looks similar inside to the 3, so the 3 is boring to me. The Mazda 5 was also always dirty and had bad shocks for most of its life, I guess I have a strong negative association with Mazda as a result. I would love if I could find a logical reason to go with a civic lol.

This is tuff and honestly i can't tell you what to do with your money. bc a car is a big investment. but a civic 06-11 I will not buy if I can't see the car in person and 100% cold, or without any warranty on the motor bc of head gasket and overheating problems. My big thing with the Mazda is how cheap everything feels in the inside i dont get the styling of the car lol.

@@povnelson2019 I actually won't buy an 06 to 09, but the 2010 and 2011 fixed the cracking engine block problems. I haven't heard about overheating or head gasket failures, I'll definitely have to look into that. Any idea where I may be able to find some more information? I appreciate the reply by the way

These engines have been recorded to last up to 300,000 miles, however, my 09 Mazda 3 shit on me. Had some white smoke coming up from the hood and would stall out when coming to a stop. I’m not a mechanic and I couldn’t deduce the issue, but that was at 145,000 miles. I was good on changing the fluids and minimal maintenance, but that was just my luck

The petrol engine will go well beyong 600.000km with no issues. The diesel one is a bit more problematic, since it's made by ford, thus Fix Or Repair Daily. A lot of issues with clogged EGR, the DPF system and so on.
