Just bought a 5 speed se model for 11k. Great car, love it so far. Really smooth transmission. The bad part is that the touch screen only has radio(no nav) but only in the se model. The sel comes with it standard I believe. Anyways definitely recommend.

I didn't expect to be laughing during a car review. But I liked it. I like this car's looks.

I bought 2012 SE with conven pckg and I'm loving it, timeless style, crazy roomy, i actually like the vtech leather, motor is plenty strong With cool exhaust note, nice trans with sport mode programmed nicely, seats are great and im 6'2", body is stiff, handling is great. Cant say enough, and remember ive owned jettas since 1989 and still own my 2000GLX VR6 97,000mls and modified, I paid $25,650 for the 2000GLX cause i wanted a VR6(not for soft plastic) 2012 SE $25,300 OTD with 6yr wrrnt! NICE

@itstalent25 - Strangely enough... I've run into a number of vehicles that don't hold my 1L bottle, though they do hold cups and a variety of smaller bottles... so I'm always pleased when I'm in a car that can handle my "water jug". Thanks for watching..:) Steve

@ducman748996 I had a 2000 GLX VR6 too. Traded it last year for a Touareg though. Loved that car. Glad to hear you're still enjoying yours. I think next to the MKVI, those MKIVs were some of the best Jettas ever built. Oh, I also had a MKII back in the 90s! haha

dude i want the base model with the 2.0 cylinder 110 hp 123 lbs of torque i like the new generation model no bullshit interior, good suspension solid handling right now im driving 97 jetta 3 156,000 miles on it(still not broken in) and i plan to drive my 97 jetta to at least 220, 000 miles in witch i will have finished college and will be able to get base model, the old jetta had all the fancy interior silly things, now no bs perfect amount of engineering in the right places

@bartrybarczyk It may depend on the trim level and accessories selected, but the 2011 loaner the dealer gave me while my 2009 was in the shop was horrendous. I immediately missed the refined feeling of my car when I got in the loaner. I love the new styling, but really was disappointed by the interior (at least in the base model).

@Windgrace Driving the base 2.0L Jetta S is like blowing air with your mouth onto a stationary basketball. The pick up is terrible, and I am sorry for people that will buy it. The 2.5L is an acceptable engine however. But given the repair nightmares I had with my very-fun-to-drive but troublesome MKIV Jetta (2001), I went with a 2010 Kia Forte EX. I have peace of mind with the warranty as well.

I love the exterior color. There's definitely understated elegance in the exterior design, too. But either you get an engine with disappointing power figures (five cylinders, 170 hp) and fuel economy or the base 4 cylinder which sounds like an engine that is maybe 3 vehicle gens (at least) dated. 115 hp? Doesn't even return stellar mpgs. I'll stick to my 06 Civic with 1.8l and 140 hp that consistently gives me 31 city, 38 hwy mpg with only routine maintenance!

Any reliability feedback from owners of the new model? I've heard a couple of things at work from 2 colleagues that own a 2012 and a 2013:1. Missalignment of the windshield frame and pressure exerted on it, resulting in a broken windshield at a very very minor shock (not covered by warranty. Backed by many reports on the net... just way too many broken windshields for this model). 2. Battery needed replacement under warranty at 21,000km. 3. Alternator changer 1.5 years from purchasing new. 4. O2 sensor broke after what vw deemed the likelihood of having driven over a bump.These are 2 ppl I know well. Not very impressed with their report on the reliability. Should this car be bought 4years old...?? I would like to buy it, but I am afraid and have to be rational.

@policeman10019 First off, Volkswagens are very reliable. My sister owns a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta and she has never had any problems with it. I drive a 2011 BMW 528i, which is a german car and it's never had any problems as well. Second off, the Mazda 3 is very unsafe compared to the Jetta. Third off, there is more luxury in a Jetta then in a Mazda. Fourth off, Volkswagen is a german brand.

Great video as always, but I feel like you left out the 2 main drawbacks to this car. 1st and foremost, the horrible interior quality. It sure looks nice in pictures and videos, but its made of super hard and rough plastics and really feels cheap. The 2nd low point is the twist beam rear axle compared to the independent suspension of the previous model. This new Jetta is great on paper, but they cut too many corners in lowering the base price.

not true. interior is nice. this is my 4th vw and 2nd jetta. I had MKV before i got MKVI. Overall i think the interior is good. not as good as previous generation but nice nonetheless.

the cheap interior in this new Jetta is just a deal breaker for me. I would rather them have kept it slightly more expensive and keep the higher quality interior materials

@noxis93 That wasn't my point. I'm all for economy cars but this car was simply poor quality and the fact that it was designed to look like a more expensive car just made everything worse. In the past Jetta at least had its own personality.

oh yes it "has a lot of things", but not to mention that this damn car is not similar in any spec to the German one, that is the real Jetta MKVI, this version is just a pice of crap that VW made for the North American market. I'd rather prefer the Mazada 6.

This review was highly uninformative and the host's humor is questionable. Next time, let's look at some facts, comparisons, something! That's what the other guys do! I encourage you to view some of the videos produced by other reviewers, i.e. Cars.com, Edumunds.com, etc., and see how they do it. What a waste of time!

I drove this car and I can tell you I wasn't impressed at all. It's a cheap Audi for people with blurry vision when they look at the exterior design. Step inside and say hello to the cheap hard plastic all over you. I know it's roomy but the seats are so flat you roll around the whole time. That might be a plus if you're obese though: It'll accommodate your ass. The dash gives you the impression you're in a 15 years old car.
