Lovvie the video. But I think you should have made i a point that you choose this method to drain the oil. and that the traditional method is still possible with these cars. My sister saw the video and was freaking out about where to buy the extractor.

Great how to video. Just bought a 2015 Passat TDI. On the oil fill, you said you were using 4.5 LITERS. Our '06 Jetta TDI took about 4.5 QUARTS (5 quarts max.). A bit of a difference between liters and quarts.

Yes, I would like to know or see the oil changed from the pan (underside) of the vehicle. We just bought the 2012 Passat TDI SEL clean Diesel. Loving it!!

Thanks for the video. A local non-VW service depot actually had to remove 3 bolts holding the coolant pipe (rigid ) and move the pipe to get the filter out. Your method of removing the 3 torx screws and pushing the overflow line aside and removing the bracket seems much easier. Nice explanation.

Thanks for the straightforward video and for doing it in metric! I'd like to see this also done without specialty tools if possible, or in other ways, eg without an oil extractor pump but from below.
@michaelmurphy64345 жыл бұрын
Screw that from BELOW. Spend some coin for the extractor and don't get that dirty again. Unless you are young and enjoy the dirty undercarriage.

The oil vacuum is well worthwhile!! I did it the other way and met with a bunch of issues: * The Australian 2013 model Alltrack has a very heavy steel skid plate, maybe 25 kg, was hard to get off with car on low ramps. * Drain plug is horizontal, so when you remove it, the oil goes a LONG way, about 600mm it seems. Overshot the end of the drain pan, and I had to play catch, then move it back as the stream receded. Got a large stain on my driveway. * Dropped drain plug into new oil pan (container style) and it promptly fell down the hole :). So had to transfer again to a third container to recover it. Arghh. * Bought an aluminium crush washer, but plug had a captive steel washer. After considering various ways to remove the captive washer, I decided to just reuse it as-is. * Also had uncertainty about the filter (I used the OEM filter). I got a satisfying clunk when I put it on, so that seemed OK (filter markings were on top, near the cap). Lubricated the O-rings, but there was squeaking as I screwed it in. So I removed it again and found the filter stayed in there! Put it back on and lubricated both the lip of the housing and the large O-ring again with more oil. Screwed it back in, still heard squeaking, but went ahead and torqued it to 25 Nm. Shrug - I hope its OK.

Thanks for the video, at first I was thinking what a big project but it's really quite simple, thank you for the detailed instructions and also the reset service light. Nice job!!!

Nice video and oil extractor is the way to go. I use it on my Jetta TDI never have to worry about tightening my drain plug or changing the crush washer. Plus the 2013 Jetta you have to remove the rock protection plastic a lot of torx screws very time consuming. The oil extractor allows me to stay topside above the engine. Never a oil leak under any of our cars

Oil extractors can leave up to 1.5 liters of oil in the motor rendering your oil change useless

Thank you for the video, this is much easier than jacking the car up and the whole process is simple. I look forward to doing this on my 2015 passat TDI!

You can use the oil extractor on your 2015, but the engine oil filter on the EA288 engine on your car must be accessed from underneath. Look for a video, and be prepared. Not fun.

Wipe the dust and grunge out from around the oil filler cap, BEFORE you remove the oil filler cap, to prevent the crap from falling into your engine. Important in dusty and dirty environments where people drive in farmland or dusty sandy dirty desert or arid areas.

This the best video I have seen for this model. Sucking the oil from the top is the way the dealership does it. Mainly because you have to remove the plastic panels under the car to get to the drain bolt and the drain bolt has to be replaced every time. The service message reset was also the correct way. I found a lot of weird reset procedures online. The only thing I would add is drain it from the bottom from time to time just to let the crud at the bottom of the pan flush out.

@viktorkalashnikov28713 ай бұрын
El problema es que no todos tienen esa bomba para supcionar el aceite TMB te confunde por qué siempre lo sacas por debajo del motor

Personally, I think removing the oil in the traditional way is better, you get out all the old oil, and whatever dirt would be resting in the sump would come as well

Not any more or less than draining would.

This is how you do it on a lot of big boats since you can't jack up the engine. I have the extractor but for some reason never thought to use it on the car oil change, that will make it so much cleaner.
