This is what Motor Trend videos should be like--completely devoted to the car that we're looking at. No Top Gear-esque attempts at comedy or complicated plots for what should only be a nice commentary with tons of info and beautiful photography. Nicely done, Jonny Lieberman.

That is, perhaps, the greatest interior masterpiece in production ever. Just wait till Audi releases a string of ads saying the A6 is infinitely cooler than the E-class, albeit every other competitor.

@Jmoneyy100 The A6 will eventually have a V8 option. It is called the S6 and will have Audi's new V8 that is also used in the S7 and S8. However, don't worry, because the price of the S6 will be on par with the price of the BMW 550i with equal performance.

@ronmann606 I bed to differ. Specific bolt-ons void only the parts being replaced and not the entire powertrain. Very few (if any) manufactures are that stringent. Visit the audi forums and see comments from owners if you disagree.

@duvaldrummer European cars in the US get less engine options than in their "motherland" because, for a big part, Diesel engines are, for whichever reason, not really popular in the US. And Diesels usually make up about half of all engines available in the Euro spec models. The other reason is that Americans don't really like 4-cylinders in their full-size sedans and prefer V6's or V8's. (even though todays 4-cylinders offer about the same ammount of power like V6's did a few years ago)
@marshknute13 жыл бұрын
@rforracing Have you been in either a Genesis? Hyundai did a fantastic job of stepping up their game and trying to change its image. That said, the interior simply isn't up to par with comparable German cars. They aren't bad by any measure, but the Genesis' materials don't look or feel as high-quality as they are made out to be. As for the 2.0T engine, it has never been described as underpowered. Automobile magazine said its performance was significantly better than its numbers suggested.
@marshknute13 жыл бұрын
@rforracing It has all-wheel-drive. Ever heard of Quattro? As for gearboxes, you don't seem to have listened to the video: the A6 has an 8-speed auto and according to you, so does the Genesis. As for horsepower, I guarantee you wouldn't be able to notice a 23 hp difference (Also, remember that the Audi's engine capacity is smaller). BTW, I am not an A6 fan (I prefer the 5-series), but I think you should check your facts.
@stephencannon31404 жыл бұрын
You forgot about the 3.0 Turbo Diesel. Like the 8 speed automatic transmission. I rented a 2018 TDI in Germany and the Google maps was cool. The navigation display can be trans to the instrument panel. The vehicle holds it own on the Autobahn but wish I could have had my US spec 3.0 SuperCharged instead of the Turbo Diesel.. Great for economy but would have liked to test out top speed or clos as can be done on the AutoBahn in a normal supercharged V6. Dynamics are good and reasonably well laid out. MMI takes some getting used to but make a note for US models.... My service loaner for the Takata Airbag Recall was a US spec A4. Same basic design just different sizes. The cup holders were well ahead of the shifter and all the risk of spilling any liquid, coffee, soda, water even condensation from the cup was concentrated over the MMI and electronic shifter. Thankfully the A6 either got smart or decided to leave them back near the driver to begin with. Had a 2012 and the MMI screen froze...fortunately froze open.

@MajkeTiTvoje Just seems like that engine should be reserved for their smaller cars. IMO the A6 is a luxury sedan German ubercruiser, and should have the smooth power delivery of a bigger engine. Hopefully the 2.0t version will offer much a cheaper and more competitive price.

@luimarco Yeah, but this version of the A6 isn't really the one to compare to a 550i or E550. You'll have to wait for a more powerful engine which will definitely come sooner or later. Or even the Audi S6.

@kthorstrejka yeah cool tell me when Audi finally makes a sedan worth driving??! If your shopping in the luxury segment, 20 MPG or higher isn't going to be your main concern, hence the fact why it is a Luxury SPORTS car. Otherwise buy a Lexus hybrid if MPG is your main priority. The 2012 Infiniti M35H is a hybrid that makes 360 horsepower and it achieves 32 MPG, if a hybrid can make 360 HP I'm sure an Audi can achieve a fuel efficient V6 with more HP.

I like the new A6 but it looks so similar with the A4/S4 that you can barely tell. I can tell the difference between an E-Class and a C-Class easily, but this? nope. But the interior is a delight.

@kthorstrejka I have nothing good to say about the 528i other then its over all driving dynamics and exterior design. I like Audi dont get me wrong but they suffer to compare with the excellent driving dynamics of a BMW. Audi lacks the athleticism found in many other competitors. The A6 only has two engine variants which are hardly viable alternatives to a BMW 550i, Infiniti M56 or Mercedes E550. You cant compare the handling of an Audi to a BMW. However I do agree Audi is the leader of design

I have an E60 5 series that's approaching 100K miles. So many choices now, if I was a chick the new E-Class would be a no brainer because Mercedes have the largest mirrors for applying makeup when you're on the go but since I was born with parts that dangle, I want a fast car with superior performance and this Audi is carrying some serious swag over the 5 series. Still I like the 5 Series design a little more. Those eyeliner LEDs never worked for me.
